It was just like any other day; you wouldn't know how the weather was because you've been cooped up in your favorite place since before the sun rose. You take a deep breath; taking in the smell of old books that never fail to put a smile on your face. You were in the fiction section of your home- your second home- pulling out a random book and skimming the already yellowing pages with your hands.
You've always loved the library. Since you were a child books have been your only solace in the world, the only thing that made you feel comfortable and safe. This is the exact reason why you flew to Korea, you wanted to explore the world of literature - not only those written in English but also in other languages though you still can't help but miss your favorites.
You were on your way to get one of your favorites -Warrior of the Light by Paulo Coelho- and you were skipping, silently humming a tune in your head and when you arrived you didn't notice the boy who already had his arms extended for the same book you went there to get until your arms brush, the tips of your fingertips touching and warmth travelling to your cold, locked heart.
"I'm sorry." you both say at the exact same time. You can't help but smile, he had a nice voice and his face was that of a girl or an angel.
"You can have it, I've read it hundreds of times anyway." you say, turning your back to the peculiar stranger and getting ready to walk away when he said something you could never turn away from.
"A warrior of light is never predictable. He might dance down the street on his way to work, gaze into the eyes of a complete stranger and speak of love at first sight, or else defend an apparently absurd idea." he quotes, his face tilted upwards, eyes closed, lips tugged up in a smile.
He looks at you, smile still placed on his lips. "I'm Kim Junmyeon." is all he says, but somehow you felt obliged to return the gesture "I'm DC." is all that escaped your paralyzed lips. It was the first time you met someone who memorized lines from what you deem is a very good book -not those clichéd lines that 'captured' the others' hearts- someone like you.
That day marked the start of endless ramblings with each other, quotes thrown at each other, competitions to see who read more, late night getaways just so you could feel how the characters of the books felt and secret rendezvous in the library at ungodly hours.
You weren't like this, you were slowly starting to change and you didn't like it. You came here to learn, to acquire new knowledge, to read not to socialize and break the rules – more so change it.
"What do you think about love?" he suddenly asks, you were in the library- somewhere you weren't supposed to be since it hasn't opened yet- you were sprawled across the carpeted floor, your eyes closed, head buried in the hood of Junmyeon's large hoodie -he lent it to you for safekeeping (at least that's what he said) - you yawn and he nudges you, urging you to answer.
You roll to your stomach and prop yourself up with your elbows.
"Hmmmm. Let' see, Love? Love is the reason why neither Romeo nor Juliet lived. It's the reason why Jack froze and lost his life at the Atlantic, the reason why Mark Anthony let Cleopatra steal Egypt's riches. It's the reason why Menelaus started a war, killing many innocent people. It's what everyone wants but rarely gets... and it only exists in books." you smile, satisfied with your answer.
You believe in the concept of love just not love for you, never even once did you think that someday in the future you would be like Cinderella or some other protagonist with a happy ending because it won't happen but it doesn't mean you have never fallen in-love because you did and you are.
You feel him staring at you, you confirm it when you look at him and catch him staring. You sit up and face him. You note how sad his eyes looked at the moment, how the smile he just showed you looked like there's something missing and how he tilts his head up and releases a heavy sigh.
