The wind was particular today, making me regret not tying my hair up before I left my house but It is the middle of December so I'm not exactly surprised that the wind is like this, it's still irritating though, With the harsh wind burning my cheeks and nose. I was on my way to Kensington High, home of the Sea Hawks and cliché cliques, In my opinion I belonged to none of their groups. Although to Cara Waters, I was just an unfortunate mishap; A weak link in the chain fence; The runt 4th of a would-be 4 leaf clover. I didn't belong and she made it her life's mission to make it damn obvious, but her efforts prove useless. Anyway, My name is Alaska, In due time you'll come to understand why I am so empty.

----------------------------------------------

A couple of years ago, I had moved to some middle-of-nowhere city in Washington, unlike every other teenage girl with friends, I had none which meant obvious relief for my parents since I didn't give them any grief for moving. But It did sadden me a bit to be leaving behind my old home, I had learned every nook and cranny while being there. Since we're here, I'll give you a bit of a background on my family there's Me, Charlie my younger brother, my mother Kate and my dad Eric. I have shoulder length black hair, crazy pale skin and two abnormally colored eyes, one black and the other a light grey. My brother Charlie (whom despite being adopted I loved like he was my actual brother) had sandy blonde hair, sun kissed skin and ocean blue eyes. My mother has brown eyes and black hair as well as olive skin. Whereas my father has brown hair and blue eyes and a slightly darker complexion. When I was born they had no clue how genetically I had gotten my eyes, doctors explained that it's a genetic abnormality but I didn't care. As long as I could see, right?.. I didn't know how ironic that sentence would become haha.

Today.

Today I didn't realize that my life would change so drastically, That my life would get shaken of it's normal and safe routine.

I woke up this morning as like I do every other day, refusing to let the alarm win. I snooze till my dear pal anxiety decides to step in and remind me that school and attendance is important, so with a groan, I rub my eyes and drag myself out of bed and walk into the bathroom to wake myself with god's gift, a shower. After I've blessed everyone with my morning screeching, I step out of the shower and dry myself off, and quickly start getting dressed because again anxiety is rushing me. Stupid anxiety. Anyways, I pull a black oversized crew neck over my head and some skinny jeans on my legs and my black slip-on vans on my feet. I don't even bother to fuck with my hair cause it's too thin. It's shameful almost. I cover the redness on my cheeks and slap some mascara on my face and I'm all set to go. I run downstairs, say goodbye to the dog and the flowerpots my door and quickly run to school.

The gates of the school became clearer as I quickly approached them, sighing as I made my way into my academic hell whilst weaving my way through the various teenage students. I managed to make my through the Red Sea and into my first period which is honors English, which also happens to be my favorite subject! I actually manage a small half smile while walking through the door, that is until my eyes land on a familiar red head. Cara. My half-smile quickly disappears as I ready myself for the many vicious insults that are sure to be spit in my direction. I manage to find my seat amongst the many students and reach for my bag and grab my worn spiral notebook and equally worn mechanical pencil, I open up my notebook to a clean page and set my eyes on the teacher whom is barely getting in the classroom. "Sorry I'm late but traffic was quite ridiculous this morning! Anyway, before we get started I have some news that some of you might not like, therefore please manage to contain your sighs of disappointment, Apparently the district decided we need more testing so we know in particular how much funding will go into after school tutoring and such for kids who fall into the 'falls far below' category. The tests will be for all subjects excluding electives. Now that I've shared oh-so-wonderful news with you please turn your English books to page 163." With a heavy sigh I manage to find the appointed page and start writing down notes. "Freak" I hear someone say, "sometimes I wonder how she even manages to live her to day to life with such a boring stature, she's a freak with her weird eyes, I sometimes get a chill just from her looking at me!" I hear her fake a shudder as if she was cold or disturbed, her many "friends" laughed and joined in with her heinous taunting. I just sigh and keep writing 'why me?' I think, I've never done anything to cause her to dislike me so much.

*60 minutes later*
The bell signals the end of class and I start to gather up my things when I feel an icy gaze settle upon me, I look around only to see everyone else has already left the classroom. With a curious expression I sling my messenger bag over my shoulder and quickly leave the room. 'Odd' I thought.
I walk towards second period which also happens to be math, I despise it with my very being. But the teacher is kind enough to slow down the lessons a tad bit so I can be on track which is way too kind in my opinion.
