Another day of high school and another tiny piece of me dies. I'm so close yet so far away from graduation and waiting for that day makes me even more anxious of discovering my path.

The Awakening Day is something that I've been preparing for all my life and it's only 48 hours away. The ceremony consists of 5 injections for the elements earth, air, fire, water, and magic. These injections put you into comotose that drags you through a series of strenuous tasks for the mind and body that determine your elemental power.
My ceremonial dress is draped over my dresser taunting me with its simplicity. it's plain white designless features itching to know what it will become. Looking into my mirror I recognize my own plainess with my long tangled mess of brown hair and my deep dark brown eyes and my dark complection looking somewhat grey. I decide I need a therapy session at my best friend's condo.

Xenia has been my best friend since junior high and she's always been the first person I turn to in times like this. The walk over is short and I don't even bother knocking, we've gotten to the point in our relationship where walking in and out of each others houses without invitation is natural. I go straight to her bedroom where she spends most of her time with her cat and books. I plop myself down onto the soft bed letting out an obnoxious sigh.

"What's wrong now toots?" she asks.
" I've been waiting for this for so long and now I'm terrified of what the results may be. Why does life have to be this complicated?"
" Don't think about it too much you're going to be absolutely fine, besides just think of all the hot guys you're going to meet at your party!"
We laugh until our stomachs ache and then laugh some more. Xenia always knows how to make me feel better when I'm down. I stay over at her house despite the preparing that I have to do before The Awakening Day. We spend our time cracking jokes and watching scary movies on Netflix, we finally fall asleep around 3am.
I wake up and it's already noon so I pack up my things and we head over to my house. Her short black hair is perfectly styled even though she didn't do anything to it. Nerves hit me again but I brush it off I'm simply too tired to deal with these emotions right now.
When we get to my house my mom is sitting in the living room hunched over her book. As we close the door she looks up with the same smile she gets every time Xenia comes over.
" Xenia! If I would've known you were coming here I would've at least straightened up a bit. " She comments while playfully scowling at me.
" Mrs. Moon I practically live here there's really no need to clean for me. " Xenia jokes. After the small chat with my mom we head up to my bedroom and she helps me pick out hair and makeup styles for my ceremony. Being the amazing cosmetologist she is I picked her to be my makeup and hair artist. We spent the day practicing the style for each element to make sure I was completely prepared no matter which element came to be mine.
