In this moment there is no sound
Everything around us for as far as you can see is green
Different shades and textures rooted in wet black
Miles out the sun could be seen sitting at the rim of the earth
Not yet wanting to rise
Your hands slowly encompass the width of my rib cage
Pale fingers tapping lightly on my skin
We sit enveloped on the forest floor
My weight on your bare thighs
My legs wrapped around your waist
A gush of winter wind blows at my naked back and brushes my hair forward into my eyes
I quickly smooth it behind my ears as you push air out of your nose in amusement
It's hesitant
There's no space between us, but somehow you pull me in closer
I bring your earlobe in between my thumb and index finger
Touching the baby smooth skin there to make you relax
I move my hands to the top of your head
The pads of my fingers massaging your scalp at first, then scratching almost roughly
Slowly, I tug on your hair pulling your head back
I look into your ocean eyes and see redemption
Time stops and I look away before I drown
I sit, frozen, giving you time to remember how to hold me
My head tilts back involuntarily and my eyes flash to the leafy ceiling of the forest
My eyes close as tears roll down my cheeks and run down my neck like candle wax
You work your way up kissing them into my skin
You breathe the words into my mouth
"Trust me"
A hint of smoke lingers in the air mixing in with the morning dew
Warm memories of the night before come flooding into my brain
Redemption coursing through each of my veins
Our lips have forgotten to part now, but our eyes stay open
The line in-between our two souls is a straight shot and this is why we came here
Tonight we will light a fire
We'll get drunk on cheap wine, and figure out how to start over
But right now we stay here
Burning in each other
