Chapter Six

The following morning, I'm up and dressed by noon. Getting up hadn't been a problem, the most time consuming thing had been DECIDING what to wear. My Father had said 'Presentable' which usually meant to dress my best.

By the time I had pulled on my pretty little yellow summer dress, white ballet flats and straightened long, sun coloured hair out, I was ready to go down to the entrance hall.

As I descended the grand staircase I looked up quickly from staring at my shoes and my eyes latched with anothers'. He stood proud and tall, and absolutely terrifying behind another man I vaguely recognised as one of the Elders that sometimes came to make business or a friendly visit to my Father at the castle.

But never had I seen this Cold One. His outward appearance and the vibes he was giving off (giving me the heebe-jeebies) definitely reflected the name given to his Race. The eyes that bore into mine were ice blue, his brows furrowed, looking angry, as he looked me over. He seemed to be analysing me, wondering if I was a threat. He seemed the type of Cold One that was constantly thinking Friend or Foe? around others.

I quickly averted my gaze, unintentionally moving my eyes to his other, stony features. His face was beautiful, as if sculpted from ice by a skilled carpenter. His cheekbones high, his nose proud and straight - as perfect as noses can get - and his lips full and sexy as his fangs came out slowly... Yum.

I continued down the stairs, blushing slightly from being flustered. When I get to the bottom, Maddox suddenly appears before me and introduces the two men, bowing the top half of his body respectfully as he did so, 'Elder Franqulin Moss and his eldest son Master Blaze'

The older man, Franqulin greeted me as he always did when we passed in the castle, a smile spread across his ageless face, and he nodded, bowing slightly, 'Princess Zara, lovely to see you again my dear.' The younger man however, simply tilted his head in my direction and continued his stony posture.

His eyes, I couldn't stop looking at them. They shone so bright I wondered if they could easily light up a darkened room. A cough pierced through the silence, and Maddox to the throne room, 'The king is ready to see you now Sir, but Master Blaze has been requested to kindly remain from the throne room this Meet.' For a moment, I swear I saw Blaze tens, before quickly regaining his cold nonchalance, and absentmindedly continuing to play Friend or Foe? with the others around him.

'Very well, Princess - would you mind accompanying Blaze while I attend this Meet with your father?' the Elder asked. Well.. He was hot, so why not I guess. Obviously I didn't say that out loud.

'Ofcourse Sir, I would be glad to' I curtsy to him slightly, before he turns and enters he throne room through a set of large crimson and gold coloured doors. I distantly hear Maddox introducing him (as he had a million times before) to my Father. I strain my ears to try and hear what the subject matter is, and unconsciously lean closer to the door.

'I never knew a girl like yourself might ever be interested in Politics' a rough yet sweet voice came from behind me. I swirled around, and to my surprise Blaze was inches from me. I shrieked quietly and took a step back in fright. His eyes had been so close, I was afraid he'd see my soul. Wait what? See my soul? I hardly knew the guy, why did I think looking into his eyes would bare my soul to him? Goddess I was being stupid.

'Don't worry, I do not bite little Princess. I was merely intrigued by your curiosity to what was being said in there' he nodded his head towards the throne room doors. Surprisingly he did all this without a trace of a smile on his face, though the tone of his voice made it seem as if he would be grinning.

So he wasn't being sarcastic? Hmmm... Then I realised what he'd called me and was about to open my mouth in lecture when Blaze tensed and looked behind me to the left, where the door to the men's chambers was.. I heard the skidding of shoes on marble and felt the shock in the air. I looked behind me to see Quinn standing just outside the door, a confused look on his face. Then my world was turned upside down, as I stood between them both and heard them call out simultaneously -

'Brother?!'

Ah hell.
