This is the third time in the past year I've had to move to a new city and this time we're in New Jersey which is thousands of miles from our last location. My dad's a military general and gets moved around a least a couple times every year. So you know what that means... I get to be the new girl again. Today's the first day of junior year and I don't know anyone, not a single soul. You'd think by now I'd stop being nervous, but nope I'm as nervous as ever. I open the front door trying not to make eye contact with anyone, and slowly weave my way through the long hallways. "B132 B132" I repeat out loud trying to find the correct classroom, but some how I had gotten to the C hall instead. "Do you need help?" a pretty, blonde girl asked. I shook my head immediately. She waved me along as we curved around a corner and went down a small hallway with a few lockers. "Here it is. Turns out this is my class too" she said smiling. I thanked her and introduced myself. "Nice to meet you Brooklyn I'm Kristen" she replied. I then explained that I got my name because I was born in Brooklyn, and that's where we are originally from, but when my dad got promoted to general before I was born, so we started moving as soon as my mom had me. My parents loved Brooklyn more than anything so they named me after their favorite place. She though it was a pretty cool story and asked if I'd sit next to her in class. I sat down in a wooden desk next to Kristen and waited for the tarty bell to ring. As soon as it did the room fell silent. Mr. Copper, my new US history teacher, began to speak. "Since it's the first day why don't we get to know each other" oh yay just what I need more time to embarrass myself in front of my new classmates. Mr. Copper told us to pair up, but each pair had to be a boy and girl since we are all "scared" of each other. I figured I'd be the only one without a partner, but luckily a tall brown haired boy asked to be my partner. I could barely say yes, because he was the hottest boy I'd ever seen. New Jersey might not be bad after all. We both turned to Mr. Copper as he gave us instructions. The first thing was to ask for each other's names, simple. "Hi I'm Brooklyn" I looked straight into his big brown eyes getting lost immediately. His name was Grayson; what a great name. "Brooklyn huh? Are you new? I haven't seen you before." The way he said my name was like art. Why was I falling so hard for him? "Yeah I just moved from Arizona. You probably won't have to remember my name though." Why was I letting myself get so attached to him? I'd probably have to move in a few months anyway. I kind of felt sad for a moment realizing I could never be with him, not that he'd want me anyway, but it was nice to think about. "Why won't I have to remember?" He looked completely confused so much so that his eye brows where raised. "My dad's in the military so we move a couple times a year." I explained that we'd moved many places in the past years and that I'd never stayed somewhere for more than a few months. He talked a little bit about how he and his twin had moved a few times due to some school issues, so he understood how I felt. It felt so nice to have someone to relate to. People usually just say "sorry" and then move on with another conversation, but he genuinely felt bad for me and I felt the same way for him. We kept talking about our families and the places we'd lived. He even said that he'd lived in California for awhile and it turns out he was there the same time I lived their we were just a city apart. We talked for so long, completely forgetting about Mr. Copper's directions, and before we knew it the bell was ringing. "Well maybe I'll see you later Brooklyn" Grayson smiled. His smile was so contagious I couldn't help but smile back. I couldn't think of anything good enough to say back so I just nodded and waved as he left the classroom. What an amazing first class. I had never felt so close to someone I'd just met, and something about him seemed so familiar like I've always known him. "You are so lucky" Kristen said shaking me out of my daze. She could tell I was puzzled by her comment. "I have the biggest crush on Grayson but someone asked to be my partner before I could ask him" she replied. Of course, the only person I've made friends with at this school, and she has a crush on the boy I'm starting to like too. "Oh yeah he's pretty cute" I tried to act calm so hopefully she wouldn't suspect anything. "He has a twin you know? Maybe one day we could go on a double date. That is if he ever asks me out." I knew Grayson had a twin, Ethan, I think but Grayson was the one I wanted, but how could I betray the only girl I've met. "Yeah that would be perfect" I lied hopefully well enough
