"Kaya, hurry up!" I heard my sister, Morgan yell. I shoved another spoonful of cereal in my mouth and threw the rest away. I knew that I didn't have time to finish. I ran into my room, grabbed my backpack, and ran out the door. I started walking side by side with my brother, Daniel on our way to school.
"So did you finish all of your homework?" I asked Daniel as we walked on the sidewalk. He raised an eyebrow. "What kind of a question is that?" He asked.
It actually was a stupid question. Daniel is special. Very special. He is what many folks call, a Krelboyne. Krelboynes are extremely smart students who were put into a 'special advanced class.' I'm proud of Daniel, but I dunno. I don't see the point of wasting an entire room so it can be dedicated to students smarter than the rest of the school. Oh well, that's just my opinion.
I looked over at Daniel. Honestly, he doesn't look like a Krelboyne. Many Krelbkynes wear the stereotypical nerd clothes like glasses, or tucked in button up shirts, or khakis. That's not Daniel, though. He just wears normal clothes. He doesn't act like one, either. He honestly didn't want to be a Krelboyne at first. He even got into this huge fight with Morgan since she was the one who had to sign the paper.
Morgan is basically our parent. She's 19 years old, makes decisions for us, signs the documents that guardians need to, decides on our punishments, pays rent and bills, etc. Morgan is pretty much our legal guardian. Our parents put us in a foster home at a young age. Thankfully, our foster parents were so nice that when Morgan turned 18, they let her have custody of Daniel and I, which is friggin awesome. For being the gaurdian of two irresponsible, destructive, immature, annoying kids (Daniel and I), she's actually pretty chill.
Daniel and I continued walking on the sidewalk while making small talk. Then we heard a voice that we both weren't prepared to hear.
"Hey Krelboyne, could you and your dumb sister walk any slower than that?" Yelled Reese, the school bully. I absolutely despise that guy. He picks on Daniel a lot, but it's a whole different world for me. I can't go one day without getting crap from him. And the worst part is that I'm the same age as him, so I'm always stuck with him. I try to avoid him as much as possible, though.
I grabbed Daniel's shoulder, and dragged him across the street to the other sidewalk. At least then he can't attempt to trip Daniel and I. I then felt a pebble hit my shoulder. I looked over to see Reese on the other side of the street, chuckling with a handful of rocks. I was about to go and slap that kid when Daniel grabbed ahold of my arm.
"Just ignore him, Kaya. He's not worth the trouble." Daniel said. I let out an angry sigh, glared at Reese once more, and continued walking with Daniel.
Once we reached the school, Daniel went to go chat with his friends, and I just sat near a bush. Yup. Forever alone is what I am. I cool with it, though. It's not like I get sad over having no friends. Sometimes Daniel lets me hang out with him and his Krelboyne buddies which is pretty cool.
I felt someone yank on my ponytail. I looked back to see Reese behind me.
"Go away Reese, please." I said in an annoyed tone, looking back ahead. He shrugged his shoulders. "Why should I?" He simply asked.
I sighed and sat down. I looked at the ground and felt a few tears stream down my cheeks. I then heard Reese sigh.
"I swear, you're such a crybaby." He said before walking away. I then felt the presence of someone. I looked over to see Malcolm. He's one of Daniel's best friends, and Reese's brother.
"You okay?" He asked. I sighed and looked up. I did a sad chuckle. "Am I ever?" I replied as I wiped the tears away, feeling more build up.
Life is unfair.
