She slid out of bed and onto the cold hardwood floor. She looked over at the clock and cursed to herself, she was running late. She was a good student, decent grades and attendance, but she was not ready to deal with an angry teacher because she woke up late. She slipped a brown hoodie on over her tank top and replaced her pajama bottoms with denim shorts and opened her bedroom door. She ran down the hall and to the bathroom to brush her teeth and comb her hair quickly. Once she was presentable she left and ran down the stairs three steps at a time, nearly tripping over herself. She ran to the front door to slip on her shoes while her mom yelled at her to eat something, she ignored her mom as she ran out the front door. She ran five blocks when she stopped for a red light. She took the time to check her phone, sighing in relief when she realized she could make it on time now. When the light turned green she began her walk across the street, and saw the semi truck wheels speeding out of the corner of her eye.
