A/N: Sorry it took me so long to get back to this cliff hanger.

*Anthony pov*

I stand perfectly still for a minute, eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

Was that really a gun shot?

What else could it be? Nothing else sounds like that. If there's a gun being fired, then surely that means there are more people. Maybe they have medicine I could use?

I have to at least see if they do, for Kyle.

I turn, and start walking towards the gunshot. The frost bitten air nips uncomfortably at my skin, but I keep going. As I get closer to the source of the gunshot, I start hearing voices.

"Damn hopefulls! That's the third time this week!"

"Yeah they've been a pretty big nuisance this lately."

"Did they get much?"

"A bit of supplies." One of them sighs.

"Mistress won't be happy."

I hesitate, before stepping out from behind the building I was using to hide from sight.

"Uh hi." I begin awkwardly.

Suddenly they surrounded me, grabbed my arms, and were pulling me along.

"So you thought you could steal from us did you?" One of them spits in my face.

"What no! I jus-"

"Just what Huh? Who do you work for? The hopefulls?"

"No! No I swear I just nee-"

"Save it! You can explain yourself to our mistress!" The other one says with a smirk.

I frowned, but said nothing else. Clearly talking to these two isn't going to help me.

They drag me into a building, and throw me down on the hard ground. I groan and roll over.

This is no way to treat a prince......

"Who might this be?" A female voice asks.

I look up to see a female, probably late 20s, the same shade of light brown hair as Kyle, light blue eyes, and two x's cut into her jaw line.

I remember Kyle telling me about that. It has something to do with marking your rank as a blissfull.

I try to ask her about it, but other people start talking before I can.

"Mistress, this is a trespasser! We caught him trying to steal supplies." One of the guys who dragged me in here explains.

"Really?" She asks, a narrowing her eyes at me.

"He is a suspected hopeful." The other one adds.

"No! You've got it all wrong I wasn-" one if the guys gives me a hard punch to the stomach.

"Shut up!" He growls.

"Please you've got to listen to m-" he punches me again, I grit my teeth in pain.

"Shut up if you know what's good for you!" The guy warns.

"Peace Skylar." She says with a causal raise of her hand. He sighs, but says nothing more. She takes a step closer to me, examining my face.

"Come to steal from us again hopeful?" She asks, sounding irritated.

"No! I don't even know what hopefulls are! I just need medicine!" I finally manage to get out.

"Medicine? You look healthy to me." She points out.

"Not for me, my friend was bitten by a snake and he needs medicine soon or he's going to die." I explain , trying to remain calm.

"I could help you out, but how can I be sure you're not a hopefull?" She's ask seriously.

"How can I prove it to you?"

"Hmmmm." She taps her chin.

"A few if us are going to the hopefulls base tomorrow, to recover stolen supplies. If you help us, I'll give you what you need."

What choice do I have.?

"Okay, I'll do it. So should I just meet you guys back here tomorrow or something?" She scoffs.

"What I let you go so you can go warn the hopefulls we're coming? Not likely. You are staying here tonight. Take him to a room." She waves her hand and I'm dragged out of the room.

Oh well, it could be worse I guess. I just have to help them, it's the only way to save Kyle.
