Amberflame lay on the ground. She was bruised and beaten, broken physically and mentally. She was in her last moments. Her mate wasn't there to comfort her, he left her and her pups a long time ago. There was only one of her friends with her, and her offspring were out hunting, unaware of the occuring events. They would come back to a nasty surprise. Amber's eyes were glazed over as she recalled the memories of her life, starting from when she was taken from her family so many years ago, to this very moment. For the first time in a while, she was weak. This may be the end of her life, but it is nowhere near the end of this story.

Amber's mother sighed, very tired and weak from delivering Amber and her siblings. Her mate was there, also tired, but nothing near the exhaustion of his love. He cuddled next to her and the pups. They all eventually fell asleep.
A few hours later, Nightbeam awoke to a noise. She also awoke to see the sight of... one of her pups missing! She woke Sunflame up to alert him of this occurance. "Wake up! Amberflame's missing," Nightbeam cried to Sunflame. Half-asleep, he gave a slight moan. Then he realized what his mate said. "W-What??!" he said as quickly got to his feet. "We must find her!" he crowed. Sunflame ran out of the den in search for the newborn puppy. Could someone have taken her away?
As Sunflame dashed out of the den, Nightbeam hobbled onto her paws, still weak. She tried her very best with her mate to find the missing puppy.
