The Begining

"There was once a time when all creatures thrived together... that was before the final World War. Human technology had advanced to extreme levels, it could achieve many things: from mutations, to air-warping force fields. But, with these feats also came aggression and competition between different countries. Eventually these things led to a horrid war, each country had their own mutations, weapons, and strategies formed to destroy other nations. When they all went into war the world was thrown into a state of chaos. Millions were dying everyday, the humans were bringing their own demise. In this chaos, a group of scientists decided that the only way to preserve their race was to somehow split land off the earth. They spent their days building and gathering generators, bombs, force fields, machines, people, animals and food, aiming to raise a section of land off the earth and bring all those willing to live in the sky.

When the scientists finally finished their project, after ten long years of work, practically the whole earth was ravaged. They had managed to protect a large area of forests and meadows to raise into the sky. They had worked hard and lost many in the struggle of raising the 'island', but when it was finally risen, the people rejoiced and named it Caelum because they hoped it would become a clear, shining, and cloudless world without aggression. Thanks to the scientists..."

Adira (ah-deer-ah) scoffed at the book, slamming it shut. Blah Blah Blah... She thought. She had heard about the "amazing" scientists who had lifted her homeland. She had practically memorized their story, but she hated them for not creating a way back down. In the sky Adira found herself bored to no end. the only things on Caelum were grass and trees. She was interested only in the world beyond... or under. There were few ways for her to learn about the earth. Other than the drawn pictures in the annals describing it, she could talk to The Sent, but, in her world that was only a dream. Those who survived trips to the earth were practically idols, while she was a simple servant. She had been abandoned as a baby and was kindly taken in by a in-keeper/ bar owner. He provided her with a home and meals in exchange for tons of work. So technically she wasn't a servant, but whatever. Adira was pulled out of her thoughts by a piercing yell. "ADIRA!" Will yelled, beckoning her, or forcing her to come up the stairs. Yup... she was in the cellar. It was the only place she could get and peace and quiet. Adira tossed the book down, grabbed the mop, and dashed up the stairs. She gave a quick bow to a few customers and continued toward Will.

"What would you like me to do?" She inquired

Will sighed, declaring, "Adira, how many times do I have to tell you?! Stop slacking off!" He gestured to the floor of the pub.

She mumbled a quick apology and started to mop the floor. Is anyone here even sober here? She thought angrily as a man bumped into her, causing the mop to tumble to  the floor. She stooped down and picked it up, continuing in a more cautious manor. Unfortunately, this week was one of the most busy weeks of the year. Many people were gathering for the annual celebration of the rising of the islands. At the castle, there would be a five day period of festivity, competition, and feasting. Will's inn was very close to the castle, so she would have to work practically non-stop for three days. Will let her have a break to go celebrate the rising, even though all she would usually do was explore. This year she was interested in seeing- and maybe even participating in some of the competitions, mostly because she wanted to fly- not literally of course, but one of the competitions was dragon racing, and who doesn't want to ride a dragon? She had planned to escape from the island on dragon-back when she first heard of dragon racing, but soon figured out that all dragons were kept and raced in an enclosed arena, so that wasn't an option. Anyway... after Adira finished the floor, she moved on to cleaning tables and serving people more drinks. This went on till' about 12:00 at night, when the last two residents decided that 13 beers was enough (Adira was about to pummel them when they finally left). She finally had some time to herself, so, she went to sleep.
