Long island native Melanie martinez makes arty, alternative singer/ songwriter pop that struddles the line between folk,electronic amd hip-pop. Born in Baldwin New york, Melanie grew up listening to her father's Beatles records and hip-pop music. In 2012, while still in high school, she won a spot on NBC'S the voice with her performance of Britney Spears ' " Toxic. Choosing to join judge Adam Levine's team, she eventually made it to week five working on solo material and in 2014 realeased the kinetics- and one love produced EP dollouse on alantic records. In 2015 she returned with her debut full-length album, crybaby which featured singles "pity party and "Sippy Cup. The album reached a number six on the billardboard 200 And hit number one on Billaboard's Top Alternative albums chart.
