Mirrors

Once upon a time,
There was a boy born of earth and flame,
With thoughts shaken by Terra's tones,
And eyes vivacious like sparks set aflame.

Once upon a time,
There was a woman built of gold and lace,
With the mind of a wisdom filled goddess,
Gold cobwebs trapping it's beauty in place.

And on that unscathed crystal sheet, they lay,
To discern reality from wanting wish,
But often found that night and day,
Don't often work to coexist.

His eyes a mirror of destruction,
Showed the world's splintering mess,
Where every blood drop's truly blood,
Every feeble being oppressed.

When each image is reflected,
In a bloody, perfect mess,
Every beauty a marred phantom,
Of a past life once possessed.

Afore, the gold of the heavens,
That sparkled in her eyes,
Now ruined by tainted realities,
Eclipsing those amaranthine skies.

For when the simplest sight,
Became a blood marred dream,
And everything he used to know,
Unraveled at the seams.

Perhaps he'll forget that,
in that golden lace filled archetype,
All of the dark truths that fly free,
Are more present here than the light.

A/N- This poem was based off of the incredibly talented -RoseByAnotherName- poem about Kaleidoscopes and unsolved mysteries. I'm just going to clarify what I wrote this poem about for anyone confused, I wrote it about mirrors, the woman is expectations and what you'd want to see, whereas the boy is reality. It talks about self image and also the state of the world with all this violence and terrorism currently happening. But that's the beauty of poetry, however you interpreted the poem is still completely valid, perhaps you had a different perspective from mine, the melody still sounds beautiful.
