Adeen is sitting. No matter how crazy the world gets, someone, somewhere, will be sitting; she muses to herself. Her chestnut colored fingers play with the fish cans hiding in her pockets, tracing the metal patterns with her bitten nails. Her gaze is fixed in the sky through the windows next to her. She dosen't know the time. Exact hours and minutes have become a privilege of the safe places. Places for the wealthy and powerful. Places that are not dictated by the sun. The bright pink slowly turning into indigo would be beautiful, but Adeen only sees the light slipping away, and what that means. A uneasiness grows in the pit of her stomach. She looks around, her quick dark eyes searching. The empty shelves that were full a few minutes ago seem infinite. Suddenly she feels an arm grab her from the side and she falls on the ground kicking, trying to escape her aggressor. She doesn't scream thought, she has been trained enough.
-Again Adeen? I told you to train your hearing more, vision only takes you so far.- A paler and older version of Adeen looks at her in disappointment and amusement.
-Not everyone is a fucking stealth master Leto.- Adeen stands up with a scold. Her sister is not gonna give her a break is she? -We should get out of here anyways. Where are Claire and Coyle?- She looks around.
-Claire is getting some godamm tampons and Coyle is probably getting a little more amo.- Her sister raises her shoulders. -I mean, we wouln't need so much amo if we didn't always leave so late.-
-Coyle knows what he is doing. You wouldn't want to be caught without some ammunition no? I mean no oh-look-at-me-i'm-a-ninja in the world can top a gun.- The younger sister looks up at Leto and smirks.
-Fine kid. But you better..- Both girls stop talking as a third person steps in and crouches to grab something on the ground. A can of fish.
-Hey! Fuck off, that's my dinner!- Adeen jumps to retrive the food and the person jumps back, taking the can with him. Too fast she thinks. Too fast for a human.
Adeen opens her mouth to scream at the person. She shuts her mouth quickly when she realizes the man staring at her has bright yellow eyes. The huge pupils expand, making his eyes black with a ring of yellow as he prepares for the attack that never comes.
Inmani.
The older man studies the two girls, his pupils slightly retracting.
-It was in the floor.- He defends himself. The age lines in his face deepening.
-Well that is not my fau..!- Adeem stops midsentence as a girl no older than seven runs to the man and bares her teeth, or the ones that are not missing, to the girls.
-Leave us alone!- Her verbal attack is rather pathetic. The man holds the kid close and tucks her behind him in a protective stance. The young girl glares at the two girls from behind his legs.
-Take it.- Leto suddenly says. The man gawns at her in surprise. Adeen gawns in the same way at her older sister.
-But Leto!-
-Shut up! You. Take it.- The man stares at the young woman in front of him and nods in akwnoledgment. When they leave Adeen jumps at her sister.
-Hey! That was our food!- Adeen feels her blood boil.
-Did you see the burn in her face?-
-..What?- Adeen's voice comes high pitched.
-The burn in her face! That is what happens when Inmani come to these places. For them to risk it they are either stupid or desesperate. Either way they would need the food.-
-Fuck that! That was my dinner!-
-You can have my dinner you selfish brat!- Leto finally explodes. Adeen blinks to stop her eyes from stinging. Only her sister can make her cry, a fact that Adeen despises.
