He never truly knew what flicked the switch. One day, a perfectly sane dream demon, the next day, something twisted and evil. It was said that demons, dream demons especially, were above the pettiness of anger and insanity. Bill had always been different and he was proud of it. He wasn't like those namby-pamby demons, who never tried to make deals for personal gain, but seemed unstable. He was always a nice person to be around though. He made sure that everyone around him had fun, or at least tried to.
He had only been around for about 1000 years before he first felt strange. strange colours seemed to be floating off sentient beings, most recognizable was smorple. He told nobody about this interesting ability, simply because he was alone. Most of the demons had fled the Nightmare realm, claiming that something disastrous was on its way. First, all the elders and younger demons had left. Slowly, everyone except Bill had left the Nightmare realm, leaving him alone and to his own thoughts.
He tried not to think of all the shame and ridicule he had encountered during his short life, as he floated down towards the familiar flames of the Nightmare realm. All his life, He had suffered from the hands of the other demons, who ridiculed him for feeling anger and irrelevant emotions. He thought back to when him and his beloved brother had stuck up for each other. What was his brother's name again? He had lost it, as Bill had forced himself to forget his brother, right after he died. It was a shame, as Bill knew that his brother had gotten in the way of his plans, which meant he had to get rid of him. There had been no tears, just fire and burning.
Something came to Bill's head, but it was easily gone. how long had it been since the others had left him? 1,000,000 years, maybe 2,000,000? It went painstakingly slow, but here he was, still floating in the pit of inevitability. Bill tried very hard to think back to a time when he wasn't alone. It was hard, but he could recall what civilization looked like before the supposed disaster. It was then that Bill vowed to throw the biggest party he could think of when he found a civilization.
That was what flicked the switch.
