The Girl You Once Knew
Say goodbye to the girl you once knew
She was sweet, kind, and pretty too
Her skin soft, clear, and unharmed
Her smile bright, her laugh bubbly, and her personality full of charm
But then one day, it all disappeared
She began to drift away, no one seemed to care
She began to keep to herself
Her charm vanished into thin air
The bright smile now an unnoticed frown
She looks in the mirror and only thinks bad of herself now
Her once smooth arm now filled with cuts
Her heart soaked with sadness and suicide thoughts
Even through all of this she stayed true to others
She continued to think of their feelings and put them before hers
But she's given all she's got and no longer has anything left
She's given pieces and parts of her heart that she continues to find in the trash
She'd have more to give if others gave back
But no, she's all alone in a world so cold
Now she's filled with hate and despair
No more kindness is given, she no longer cares
She says "fuck you" to the people she once loved
She pushes away, even though she wants to be closer
She's surrendered to the things that have challenged her
Her mind is now weak, from years of fighting
She's hurt, bruised, and broken
The cheerful spirit she once had is now on it's deathbed
Killed by the darkness in the back of her head
Now she is someone she does not know
She can't control her actions or what path she goes
She's someone else
She doesn't like this person she now sees
She thinks she's hurtful, ugly, and mean
The scars on her arm remind her of what she's become
The darkness has overwhelmed her and killed her inside
There's no more bright left in her, all of it has died
This girl fought and fought, but she was outnumbered
She learned to just lie there and accept her fate
She's lost herself in the ruins of the war inside her
The sweet little girl you once knew is now a monster.
