Chapter One

Few months later...

Abby looked at her Starbucks cup with total despair. Danny sat down across from her with a similar cup. "Come on Abby it won't be that bad" he said trying to be encouraging. It was endearing but for some reason it vexed her. "Really Danny?" She said hoping not to sound to harsh with distain. He smiled and too her hand "I know what you're thinking"

"Do you?"

"Your think how can one man be so handsome" he said laughing.

She smiled over the rim of her cup and nudged him on the leg. "Ha, I'm not going to lie you are very attractive, and smart" she said

"Really?" He asked narrowing his eyes, he was rarely called intelligent so he was cautious even with his girlfriend.

"Of course your dating me you must be brilliant" she laughed

He leaned back in his chair and chuckled watching her beautiful smile. Every time he saw her he was sure that his heart stopped, it was like seeing her for the very first time. It was cheesy he knew but it was true, Abby stirred thoughts in his head that he never really considered with anyone else and he knew that life without her would be less flavorful. He leaned foreword and took her hands in his and looked into her green eyes. Abby looked back "I feel so degraded Danny, ever since the Olympics and my... You know" he squeezed her hand in assurance, a sign that told her that he understood. "It just feels like my world is flipped upside down, like my boat capsized and I'm drowning and I can't break the surface" she said looking away. "You need a life line Abby, and I think that this new job will help"

"There you go again" she said

"What?"

"You're trying to fix it"

He blinked and looked very confused.

"What are you talking about? I'm just trying to help"

"But I don't want you to help right now Danny I just want you to listen"

"Well that doesn't make sense, you would feel a heck of a lot better without all this emotional stuff"

"Ugh its important to me that you just hear me out" she said

He leaned back and held his hands up in mock surrender, "Okay fine" he grunted irritated slightly, she sighed

"I'm sorry"

He shook his head "No I'm sorry I'll try to listen, but gosh you sound like mom sometimes" he said chuckling when her face twisted with disgust. "How dare you" she said horrified. Danny laughed some more. "Stop laughing!" She said shaking her head. He sighed once he was done and looked at his watch "We better go, your going to be late" he said standing up and pulling his wallet out of his jeans, leaving a tip for the waiter. He took her hand and they walked out of the Starbucks. They walked through Central Park and then stopped at just outside of an indoor ice rink. "Wow this looks better than I thought it would be" Danny said

"What were you expecting?" Abigail asked when his phone started to buzz. "One sec" he said, she smiled and he answered

"Hello" he said "What?"

"You want me to wait for you?" she asked

"One sec" he said then looked at her "Nah, go ahead I'll meet you inside" he said and kissed her.

"What do you mean Tucker shanked table?" he asked "He's not that strong"

Abby smiled as she entered the rink, it was a very clean looking facility and in the background she heard skates. There was an older woman sitting behind the front desk. She smiled "Hello, are you here to pick up your child?" she asked

"Oh thank goodness no I'm to young for that, but I'm Abigail Perrin I got a call from Sydney that there was a job opening here"

The old woman's eyes lit up "Your Abigail? It is such an honor to meet an Olympic athlete" she said shaking Abby's hand. "Are you alright, I heard that you suffered from a tremendous accident" the woman said

"I'm better now, forgive me but I didn't catch your name"

"Oh my bad, Hi I'm Ellis Snow, but you can call me Miss Snow"

"It's nice to meet you Miss Snow"

"Oh right the job, I'll call Sydney that you are here" she said and picked up her phone hand started texting.

The door opened and Danny smiled at her. "Hey sorry about that, how's it going?"

"I'm about to see my boss, what about you how's Tucker?" she asked

"Well its just the usual, Tucker accidently stabbed the table"

"How did he do that?"

"No idea, Mom has found a new guy in the last thirty minutes since we last saw her" he continued.

"Really?" she asked

"Would I lie to you, you know how she is"

"Of course"

"And now Ben and Riley are off again"

"Seriously?"

"Yep" Danny said

"That's it?"

"Yep"

"No details or anything?"

"What do I look like, one of your cheerleader friends? I don't know"

Abby raised an eyebrow "You're the worst messenger ever"

He raised and eyebrow "You're really cute when your eyebrows do that thing when you are trying to be serious but you're actually not"

She laughed.

"Oh, is this your husband?" Miss Snow asked putting on her glasses.

"Oh no, this is my boyfriend Danny, Danny this is Miss Snow"

They shook hands "Hi I'm Danny Wheeler, its nice to meet you"

"Oh my you're so strong, and handsome" she said making Danny laugh "Oh this ones a keeper Abby"

They laughed "Say aren't you that hockey player?" she asked

"Yes, wow you actually know about me" he said

"Know about you? My grandsons wont stop talking about you" she said making Danny smie all the more. His phone dinged and he checked in "Oh shot, coach just called a practice in an hour, I have to go" he said.

"Alright, I'll meet you back at the apartment then"

"Absolutely" he said and they kissed on the lips. "Love you" he said

"Love you" she said as he raced out of the building.
