DeVon
"Okay, can you guys tell me where it all began? How did you two first meet?" Dr. Chavez asked as Terra and I sat on the couch together. She sat so far away from me that it made me question was coming here even worth it. I wanted to fix what was wrong in our relationship but sometimes it felt like she worked twice as hard to push against me.
"Yes, I remember it like it was yesterday actually. She walked into my math class my junior year of highschool, it was the second semester, right after winter break. She had on this gray sweatshirt and khaki pants, since we were in uniform. I remember thinking she was so beautiful and I noticed that she didn't pay me any attention as she went and sat down on the wrong side of the room trying to be invisible... she hid behind her dark brown glasses letting her bang that was tinted a shade of pink cover one of her eyes. She looked like she might pass out when the teacher asked her to approach her desk and introduce herself, and I knew then that I wanted her to be mine."
I described my first encounter with Terra and everything I said was true, she was so beautiful, but her low confidence often made her think otherwise, and I can't help but feel like sometimes it is my fault she feels the way she does.
"I can't believe you remember all of that, I know exactly what day you are referring too and I just knew I felt completely out of my element. I was terrified, I didn't know anyone at that school except for my cousins both of them being in different grades than me and I was shy. I never really liked making friends... I do however remember you and some other guys staring at me and I instantly thought they were thinking about how bad I looked, so I didn't pay any of you any attention."
As Terra describe her views of that day, it took me back to what I was saying before. Little did she know we were all talking about how cute she was and little did she know the effect she had on me that day.
"So was there any dialogue between you two at the time?" Dr. Chavez asked.
"No, not really. I didn't talk to anyone in class unless I had to, and even then I only talked to another quiet couple. DeVon did ask me for a pencil everyday though if that counts as dialogue." Terra slightly smiled when she talked about me asking for a pencil everyday. It was my way of flirting of course I wasn't so good at it back then.
"Hmmm flirting I see. Well Terra when was the first time you actually noticed DeVon as another person and not just the annoying guy in math class who never has a pencil?" Dr. Chavez asked laughing along with Terra.
My did I love to see her smile and laugh, her laugh could light up the darkest room. I just have to make things right between us, she is the most important lady in my life besides my mother and I'll put in over time to make sure her decision to call off our engagement does not go through.
Okay, this is my first chapter and I feel pretty good about how this story will unfold, stay tuned to see how the rest of DeVon's Love will turn out.
