"Okay, now Valencia how have you been doing?"

"How do you think I'm doing?" Valencia snapped back. She hated her therapist, actually, she just disliked her. The person she really hated was the guy who caused all of this.

"I understand that your going through grief right now but you have to understand, taking out your anger at others will only make you feel worse" Ms. Amy said.

Valencia tried to cover her sob with a cough but Amy wasn't stupid.

"It's okay if you want to cry Valencia, your allowed to." After those words Valencia didn't hold back any of her choking sobs or falling tears. She curled up on the brown leather sofa she was sitting on and cried.

She wasn't crying because she was angry, but because those words that Amy said was exactly what her mother would say to her when she was upset and on the verge of tears. She looked up at the woman. Her hair stuck to her wet face and her sleeves were soaked in her own tears but she managed to look up, and she was relieved to see no one staring back at her.

Although she didn't like Amy, she knew that Amy was smart. She knew when to leave and when to stay, and Valencia wouldn't change Amy for anything.

So she stared at the beige walls, focusing on the little hanging painting of a white sailboat, rocking in disastrous waves, barely being able to hold itself up against the strong force pushing against it. She loved that painting.

She slowly stopped crying, only sniffling here or there. She wiped off her tears with her soaked sleeves and just sat there, not moving but eyes darting back and forth over the white sailboat, trying desperately to hold on.
