Far Too Long

Pairing: Thorki

A bored look was crossing the God of Mischief's face as he sat in Stark tower, forced once more to return to Midgard along with his insufferable 'brother' upon the wishes of the Allfather. After being released from prison he was supposed to be under Thor's watch, but he had slipped away for peace, reclining back on a seat in the lounge, his eyes cast up to the magical birds above him, made by his own magic for a distraction.

Thor had fallen asleep on his bed while watching Loki and when he woke, his heart immediately dropped when the other god wasn't there anymore. He jumped up and ran out of the room. He found Loki lounging back in an armchair, watching some birds he had made fly overhead.

"Loki! Thank gods, you scared me!"

His eyes were blank until he heard Thor's voice pounding through his ears, ruining the comfortable silence that he had made for himself at this moment in time. He grunted slightly in response to him, his eyes still watching the birds above his head.

"Of course I did," He muttered sarcastically. Thor frowned, approaching Loki.

"Brother..." He hated upsetting Loki. But it seemed he did nothing else.

"I'm sorry..." He muttered, ducking his head. He sat in a chair next to Loki and murmured.

"Tis a beautiful creation..."

"We are not brothers, Thor, you know my true parentage," He responded to him, following the birds with one of his fingers lightly before he made another small grunt of noise.

"Of course they are. I made them." Thor's shoulders slumped. Right, Loki wasn't his brother...The elder looked up at him with sad blue eyes.

"Do you...Do you hate me, Loki?" He asked hesitantly.

Loki refused to look down in response to the others words, rubbing the bridge of his own nose slightly as he waved his hands, making the birds disappear from the sky.

"It is our nature to hate each other, as Jotun and Asgardian."

"Loki, please. I do not care of our genetics. I mean as people. Two different souls." Thor bit his lip.

"Why do you hate me? What have I done? And whatever is, I wish to redeem myself. I want you to see me the way I see you..." Thor bit his lip harder. He hadn't meant for it to come out like that.

"It is who we are, Odinson. You grew up believing in the ways of the Jotuns. As did I myself when I was living that lie of a life," He responded firmly to him before snorting slightly. "

You know what has happened between us. How I was outcasted, living in the shade of your glory." Thor came and knelt down to Loki's level.

"What I grew up believing was wrong. The Allfather taught me wrong. He shouldn't have kept your true heritage a secret. It was all wrong." He looked back down, sniffling a bit, though he tried to hide it. He shook his head.

"You really don't know how I see you, do you?"

Loki's eyes flickered down slightly afterwards when he saw him begin to kneel in front of his seat, running his fingers along each other before he furrowed his brow.

"Either way that it happened and I have discovered the true monster that lies beneath the surface," He said before wrinkling his nose slightly. "Sentiment."

"You are not a monster." Thor abruptly got up and began to pace rapidly in front of the large windows that overlooked the city.

"You're not a monster. You never have been." He stopped and looked down, murmuring, "I didn't fall in love with a monster."
