2: Broken

"Who did it?" Riley angrily approaches Farkle, Lucas, and Zay.

"She didn't pick me up this morning. She won't respond to any of my texts. She was fixed, now she's broken again. Who did it?"

Lucas and Zay raise their hands in the air, showing their innocence.

"Farkle..." Riley says sternly, grabbing the collar of his shirt.

"What did I do to deserve this affection?"

"Farkle, I'm serious."

"You were wrong, Riley. Maya was never fixed."

Riley lets go of Farkle, "what are you talking about? Of course she was. She confessed her feelings for me. That fixed her, Farkle."

"That only fixed a part of her, Riley. There is still wrong something."

"How do you know that?"

"Did you not see her yesterday? She wasn't Maya."

"What?" Riley's voice fades.

"She let Missy step all over you two. We both know the real Maya and the real Maya would step up for her friends... The real Maya would never let anyone treat you like that, Riley. She is still lost and she is still broken."

"How could I not realize this?" Riley asks herself. "I'm sorry for taking my anger out on you, Farkle. I didn't know."

"It's okay, Riley. Our lives are becoming more and more confusing. Never forget that I am always here for you and no matter what I am always on your side."

"Do-do you know what's wrong with her?"

"No," Farkle responds.

"Wait... what did you say about Missy?" Lucas interrupts.

"She was bullying Riley and Maya yesterday," Farkle responds.

"What?" Lucas asks, his face expressionless.

"She wanted to know if Maya and I were dating... And she made fun of us when she found out we were... Then she said it was a shame you spent so many years with us," Riley answers Lucas.

"Why didn't you tell me, Riley?" Lucas asks in a hurt, yet tone.

"I was mad at her at the time, but once she left, I didn't let her get to me. I am who I am. I wasn't going to let her make me feel bad for being me. You guys let me see that."

"But it got to Maya," Farkle realizes.

By now there is practically fire in Lucas' eyes, "I'll be back," he says.

"This isn't going to be good," Zay says, "he's back... Texas Lucas is back."

"Lucas wait, this isn't your fight," Riley stops him.

"Why isn't it? You guys are my best friends, I am not going to let her treat you two like that." Lucas turns away and continues what he was doing.

"Lucas!" Riley starts after him again, but is stopped by Farkle and Zay.

"Let him go, Riley," Farkle tells her.

"But-"

"Trust, me. Right now there is nothing we can do that will stop him," Zay comments.

"We should be worrying more about Maya, than anything or anyone else. Lucas will handle this the right way, you have to trust him," Farkle says.

"I guess you're right."
