I forcefully diverted my attention to something else to control my temper or the end of the world will come too soon. Earlier while were walking not too silently because of this woman’s whining, I came to think that she’s sent from above to watch my every action. But as minutes passed, I’ve got no proof that she is. So temporarily, I’m safe from those watchful eyes.
I took longer strides determined to dispatch this polka-dotted underwear girl as soon as possible and be back to what I’m supposed to do and that is to sleep this annoying world away. That was what’s in my mind until I heard a loud thud.
“Sorry, I tripped.” She then gave me a sheepish smile.
I sighed as I watched her stand up and brush the dirt off her dress. I didn’t bother helping her. I don’t want to touch her. She looked so fragile. It feels like if I touched her I’ll end up hurting and breaking her. And what’s more Ruka told me not to let any human see me but I ended up being seen. So might as well just keep my distance from her. I scanned her from her foot up to her face.
“You look pale.”
She stared at me like I grew another head.
“Really? I am?” she quickly touched her face and forehead. “Well, I’m feeling fine. Maybe it’s just because of the sun. You know we’ve been walking for hours and it feels very hot. Look! I’m even sweating so much.” She then nervously laughed and diverted her eyes away from mine. “Let’s continue walking shall we, the sooner we reach the town the better.” She walked past me.
