The Beginning

Ah. The first day of school. At a new school of course because when do I ever not be the new girl? My family ,which is made up of me and my mom, moves almost every year. It's my junior year in high school, and my mom promised that I'd be graduating from this new school. It's called Mountain Lake High. Yep. Named just after the town. The town that's so small that everyone literally knows everyone. Except me.

"Riley! Are you up yet?"

That would be my mom.

I put down my journal and look at the time. 30 minutes to get ready? That should be fairly easy.

I throw on some tight black leggings, a tan sleeveless crop top and top it off with a jean jacket. I look at my wavy brown hair and part it in the middle and put a black, suede hat on. I zip up my combat boots and skip off to the bathroom to do my makeup. After thinking about what to do, I decide to keep it natural. I do my eyebrows, and apply some light mascara and a little blush for some natural coloring and with that I grab my bag and head downstairs for some breakfast.

"Hey Mom!"

"Oh thank the heavens! I was just about to go up there to see where you were at girl!"

My mom is pretty laid back. Mainly because she's barely ever home because of work and when she is home, she feels bad and does her best to understand us teenagers and make me happy. I love her but she can over do it sometimes.

"Here's some toast Riles," she smiles at me.

I eat it up and burp loudly and earn a glare then a huge cackle from my mother. I wink at her then grab my bag and keys and head off to school. Usually I would need to use GPS to get around new cities and towns, but like I said, it's a small town.

I arrive to school early and get my new schedule and find my locker.

132...133...134...

"Ah! 135!"

"Looks like someones excited about a locker," I hear a voice behind me and jump.

I turn around to see boy with light blonde hair and dark brown eyes.

"Oh no, I mean yes, I mean," I laugh.

"You must be the new girl. Everyone here is dying to figure out who you are. I'm Stanley," he says as he holds his hand out.

I shake it, "I'm," "Riley, I know. Just about everyone knows your name." He laughs shyly.

That's not creepy at all...

"Well I guess I need to know their names as well."

"Trust me, you will. Won't take you long really."

"Must be a small school?" I question. He nods and looks at my schedule.

"Looks like we have 1st together. I'll walk you. It'll probably make it easier for you anyways." And with that he begins to walk off.

I follow him and we walk silently but a peaceful silent to 1st period. I take the opportunity to look around the school as we walk. The bright white paint on the walls, as if they were just painted. The dark blue lockers covering the hallways. I look ahead and see a group of boys. Fit boys. In black clothing, but not like goth clothing. I can't see any of their faces but I notice they all have some tattoos. I've always wanted a tattoo.

"And we're here!" He smiles at me and walks in.

I take one last glance back at the boys but they weren't there anymore.

I go in and talk to the teacher and he tells me where to sit, and of course, it's in the back. Yay...

I take my seat and draw on a piece of paper until the bell rings. I get ready to take some notes. Thankfully the teacher didn't make me stand up and introduce myself. Probably because everyone already knew who I was.

In the middle of speaking the door creaks open.

"Hello Mr. Styles, take your seat." Dang, it's like this kid is always late because the teacher didn't have to even look at who it was.

He gives a fake smile towards to teacher and walks towards my table and that's when I realize mine was the only one with the open seat. Great. I don't take my attention away from the teacher as he sits down. In that swift movement of him sitting in a chair, I got a huge whiff of his cologne and boy it smelled amazing. I kept my eyes on the teacher or on my paper. I knew he was trouble. I could just tell, and me being new here I didn't want to have more attention towards me than I already do.

In the middle of the lecture I could feel eyes on me. I take a quick glance over at the boy known as "Mr. Styles" and immediately notice his hair. It's brown curly locks taking over his head but tamed back with a dark navy bandana. I turn away and keep listening to the teacher.

"Alright class, lets take the rest of this time to discuss with your partner and take your own personal notes over this lecture. Also make sure to grab a worksheet either before the bell or on your way out."

I take that as a brief excuse to not talk to my partner and get up and grab us the worksheets, otherwise known as our homework. I come back and hand him the paper and begin working on the homework, seeing as I took notes during the lecture.

"I'm guessing we won't be 'discussing' the lecture then," I hear come from the boy beside me. His deep but sexy voice. And that accent oh my gosh...

I feel him poke my shoulder and I look up. He stares at me for a minute before speaking.

"I'm Harry. Harry Styles."
