As Genese and I enter first period ELA with Mr.Burke the bell rings and we take our seats Genese sitting next to me in the back.
"You know you can sit anywhere, right?" I said
"Yeah I know I just feel more comfortable sitting next to you. Plus all the other boys keep staring." As I tried to hide me blushing Mr.Burke announced that we had a new student and gestured for Genese to come up and introduce herself. Genese looked back at me and I nodded as if saying its ok. Genese walked to the front of the class and stood tall and proud.
"Whenever your ready" Mr.Burke said.
Genese began to speak
" Hello everyone my name is Genese Forester and I'm new here. I just moved to Florida from North Carolina and I can already tell Im going to like it here. I look forward to working with you all." As she went to take her seat i notice a few girls looking at Genese in jealousy because of all the stares shes getting from boys. Genese sat down. Mr.Burke thanked her for sharing and told the class to clap. After that Mr.Burke began the lesson. While Mr.Burke started teaching boring Algebra talking about exponents and other things i wasnt really paying attention.
"So Genese welcome to Florida, I'm Jaheim Brown. I've been living here all my life and i promise you'll love it here although the people are a bit bumpy."
"I'm sure I will. thank you."
I smiled and shook her hand. Now that introductions are out of the way on to phase two.
