I shook my head backing away from him. Why now? Why would he do this to me now, when I'm about to leave?

I turned quickly, walking out of his large house. I was leaving for Florida tomorrow to live there and he thinks now is the appropriate time to say I love you? I don't think so. I closed my eyes tightly before driving away from his home. I couldn't stand it, not now. Not when I was about to start over and be okay. Not after Jacob. He knew what that did to me. He knew it crushed me to have him leave me like that.
And Dylan knew it crushed me inside to leave him like this. He was my best friend and now after almost nine years, I was losing him.
