Doctor Who Comes to College

Accepted

"Clara!" I hear my name being called by my dad. "You're acceptance letter has arrived!" I walk into the living room. "How do you know I've been accepted?" I ask. "You have to be accepted." That's all he said.

"Thanks dad, I'll remember that if I don't get accepted". I say sarcastically. He just smiles and passes me the envelope. I bite my lip and slowly open the letter. I know my dad is watching me cautiously.

I stare at the letter and my eyes grow wide. "You made it didn't you?" My dad says loudly. All I could do was nod. "I'm so proud of you Clara! You got accepted in one of the most prestigious schools in London!" My dad raps his arms around me and then we hear a knock.

"Is this the Oswald residence?" A lady asks when we open the door. "Yes," my father says. "I work at the Parchjane college, I'm here to tell you that college starts tomorrow". "Tomorrow?" My dad yells, his brown eyes sparkling. "Yes," she replies.

"We got the letter five minutes ago!" My dad yells. "Dad, I'm fine with going tomorrow," I say.
"That's not how college's work! They give you a while before school starts," my dad says. "If she doesn't show up tomorrow at 11 am, she will lose her spot in our college. We are sorry about the late notice but I have to do more than one of these tonight so are you showing up tomorrow or not?" "I'm going," I say before my dad could interrupt. The lady walks away and we shut the door.

"You can't go! You just got here last month." My dad said.

"Dad I can't miss this opportunity".
"It is a big opportunity" he says.
"Then you understand why I have to take it".

"I guess I do, just I'm going to miss you so much. I'll be all alone."

"No you won't, you'll find someone, I know you will".

"I don't think so Clara".

"You haven't exactly tried".

"I guess I haven't."

We stood there for a while before I said I needed to go pack my bags.

I went upstairs and into my room. I stared at the letter, 24 hours from now I'll be in college.
"Wow" I whispered to myself. That was it, I packed my bag, ate dinner, and fell asleep at around 10 pm. I fell asleep thinking about tomorrow, I was so excited and scared at the same time. I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know these would be the best and worst years of my life.
