Sadness. Loneliness. That was all he felt these days. Gone were those days where the sarcastic and happy boy Alex Rider lived.
Alex Rider was already dead. Dead at heart. A machine. A emotionless being. A actor. A liar.
The Pleasures had did all they could to help him start anew. Sabina introduced him to her circle of friends. He had a girlfriend named Madeline, who was one of the most sought after girls in Sabina's school, but it was all a lie. A act. It was nothing but deception on his part. He felt nothing for his so-called girlfriend. He never really bonded with his 'friends'.
He couldn't risk it. They would get killed too. That he knew too well.
Tom was dead.
Jerry was dead.
He had been devastated when he heard the news. Tom was his one and only true friend. And Jerry, although he hadn't known him well, they were still friends for a brief period of time. They were dead because of him.
Then he had heard that Tamara Knight had been KIA in a very unfortunate accident, but he knew it wasn't true. It was because of him.
He also knew that very soon, it would be the Pleasures turn. He couldn't allow that to happen. He couldn't let anyone else die because of him.
And there was only one way he could guarantee their safety. He had to die. If he died, they would live. But he needed to die at the hands of his greatest enemy for that to happen.
He had to get Scorpia to kill him.
