Jessica woke up to an empty bed. Danny's body left an imprint on the cotton sheets. He had took Mariah to her 3 month checkup . She missed them already.

She yawned and grabbed her phone off the charger .

She began to scroll through twitter. She had a private one no one knew about . Just so she could see what everyone said about her . Jessica had saw a new article from People Magazine.

It was titled "Jessica Lange spotted at café". She began to read the article . It pointed out her extreme weight loss . How unhealthy she looked. She searched down her timeline , there were more articles . She couldn't take it.

Jessica has been battling bulimia and self harm since Mariah was born. When people commented about how heavy she was she began to feel worthless. She didn't think she deserved Danny , or Mariah. So she took it out on herself. What scared her most is she knew she would start to get questioned by the ones she loved. She already had to convince Danny she was okay. She wasn't ready to answer the others.

She broke down in tears. All the pain rushed through her body. She needed to cut.

She ran to the bathroom , slammed the door ,and searched through the bottom drawer for her blade. She found it and pressed the cold metal against her skin, the bathroom door opened.

Danny's POV

I unlocked the front door and walked in as quietly as possible. I didn't want to wake Jess. She had a rough night and didn't get much sleep.

Mariah's head was laying on my shoulder as she was sleeping. I put her in her crib gently. Oh how she looked like her mother .

I walked down the hall to the bathroom. I opened the door and saw Jessica. My beautiful wife. Holding a blade against her skin.

"It's not what it looks like Daniel!" She said with emotion , but not too loud to wake Mariah.

You can hear the pain in her voice.

Narrator POV

Danny wrapped his arms around her. He began to cry . Tears were just flowing out . She seemed like she was better.

"Seemed"
Yes , she may have seemed better, and yes there may be a smile on her face; but I guarantee you in all that she felt there was absolutely nothing "fine" or "better". Seemed is a very tricky word you see , because things aren't always exactly what they "seemed" to be.
