As the credits roll for Star Wars, I yawn and check my phone.
12:54
I have work tomorrow, so I decide to take a shower now. I hate waking up early, so I mostly shower before bed.
I undress and step into the shower, as the warm water trickles down my skin. I sing, more like belt out, the lyrics to random pop songs.
After I get out of the shower, I put on a pair of leggings, a t-shirt, and fuzzy socks. I hear a rustling sound in the kitchen and walk towards it. There, I see my best friend Kyndall, who's eating Oreos and milk. I walk over to her and discreetly take an Oreo. I'm positive she noticed me, but I don't think she cared.
Kyndall is my best friend in the whole universe. She's like my sister. We were both were born and raised in Florida, but we are renting an apartment together in New York City.
I tell Kyndall good night and go to my room. I twist my long blonde hair into a messy bun, and turn off my fairy lights that hang above my bed. I check my phone one more time, before I drift off into a peaceful sleep.
~
Beep, beep, beep. Beep, beep, beep.
My alarm rings as I wake up. I smash the button on the top of my alarm clock and reluctantly roll out of bed.
I walk to the bathroom, wash my face, and brush my teeth.
The clock Kyndall put in our bathroom reads 8:15 AM. I have to be at work by 9:00.
I open the door to my closet and pick out a pair of skinny jeans, a maroon blouse, and a pair of black converse. I put on my clothes and as soon as I am done getting ready, I grab my backpack and plug my headphones into my rose gold iPhone 7 Plus. I set my music on shuffle and my music starts playing. I hum along to the music and grab my skateboard. As I shut the door to our apartment, I set my skateboard down and start riding towards the small smoothie shop I work at. My coworker, Claire, greets me at the back door where employees go in. The cafe opens at 9:30 and it starts getting really busy around 10:00.
I get all of the blenders ready and before I know it, the small clock above the glass doors reads 9:30. Some of our regular customers come in. I suddenly become very tired. Lili, stop watching movies until 1:00 AM, I think to myself. I thought that I got plenty of sleep last night, but apparently I didn't.
Time flies, and now it's 6:00. I'm finally off of work for the night, I get to go home. My manager, Matt, walks over to me and asks me a question that I've been dreading the whole day.
"Hey, would you mind working a night shift for Diana? She's sick with the flu."
I can't say no! He's my boss, he can fire me. I quietly mumble an agreement, trying to sound happy and energetic. Sometimes I hate working at a place that's open 24/7, but I need the money. I sigh and start working as the night shift employees arrive.
