I was sitting on the floor in my living room watching a show about conspiracy theories when I heard a key jiggling in the door knob. Sam, my roommate and bestfriend, walked in carrying a small stuffed alien and an envelope.

"Hey bro what are you doing next Friday?" She asked as she threw the stuffed alien at me.

"Nothing as of right now" I replied.

"Well now you do. A friend of mine had tickets to see a small band called Twenty One Pilots, but someone in her family died or something and she can't make it so she gave them to me." She responded.

"Oh that's sad.." I replied.

"Yeah it really is." She quietly mumbled.

"Well thanks for this rad little guy." I thanked her.

"Oh no problem I found it in the road." She smirked.

"Ew!" I yelled as I dropped it on the ground.

"Haha I'm just kidding I won it from a vending machine." She laughed as she sat down next to me to watch tv.

As I laid in my bed with tears streaming down my face I hugged my pillow and thought of a better place. A place where I felt happy and not alone, a place where I didn't feel so useless, a place where I had a purpose. But isn't that what everyone dreams of? I can't possibly be the only one who feels this way. But the demons in my mind screamed, they repeated the words "useless" and "disgusting" and told me I was alone in this feeling, that no one understood my pain. I wanted to rip off my ears but I knew that would do nothing but fuel them. They wouldn't quit until I made the cut, until I made myself bleed. So I gave them exactly what they wanted and when they finally quieted down I went to bed.
