Chapter 2: Can't Tear Us Apart

It was a rainy afternoon on Thursday, Aaliyah had a interview with Hot 97 with Angie Martinez. She was excited because she was plan on telling the world her big plans for this year, far as her clothing line, and movies. She walked into the studio where she was directed to, and she gave Angie a hug.

"Hey ma, glad to see you again" Angie hugged Aaliyah, "You to Angie, I'm so excited to be on this show with you it's been like a year now?" Aaliyah sat down in her chair, and was handed some headphones. "yeah it's been a minute how've you been?" she excitedly asked Aaliyah.

"Things been swell Angie that's for sure, new big things I plan on happening this year." Aaliyah sweetly said. And the director cued them that they were now on air. "Good-Good-Good afternoon out there New York, how you doing? this ya girl Angie on the mic, and we have a special guest in the house, y'all know her, y'all love her Miss Aaliyah....how you doing?" she asked.

"I'm doing fine Angie, thank you, hey New York" she laughed sweetly, "So, Aaliyah I see you've been constantly moving, the last time we saw you was um, at the first annual BET Awards in 2001. How was that for you?"

Aaliyah sighed "It was a blast, I love the different platforms of these award shows, and I'm glad that BET got their own, and shout out to Debra Lee, for allowing me to perform my singles "We Need A Resolution" and "Rock the Boat" on stage, it was phenomenal. I always wanted to do them routines on stage it was fun.!" Aaliyah cheesed.

"Yes, I'm sure it was, girl you could move, I know you had everybody especially the fellas out their seats jamming to Rock the Boat, all I heard was whistles girl you is something."

Aaliyah snorted "Yeah, I don't know what it is Angie, it was beautiful to the see the audience and celebrities hyped." They both chuckled.

"Now, before we even get into the details involving your career, speaking of fellas girl are you ever gone settle with somebody?" They both laughed, Aaliyah tucked some hair behind her ear.

"Mmmm I don't knowww" Aaliyah cooed, rolling her chair back and forth, "Well, okay for the people out there wondering, yes I'm currently engaged to someone, um" Angie gasped "Say what?" Aaliyah blushed laughing "Girl shut up, who, when where and how?"

"...you know who he is Angie, and everybody out there, if you don't know, it's none other than Jay-z's business partner Damon Dash.." Aaliyah blushed, holding her face can't believing she admitted that.

"Oh I knew it, I knew it...wow, my man Dame Dash? How that happen?" she asked excited, "Well you know Angie just chillin', hanging around. I kept him a down low because we were fresh in our relationship, and I didn't want people judging me for who I chose to be with. It's not a good feeling, but we've been dating for 2 years now." Aaliyah shyly kept admitting.

"2 years? shut up?" She asked. Aaliyah giggled, and shrugged. "Wow, he is one lucky guy to score someone like you huh?" Angie smiled at her. 

"yeah I guess so, he's amazing and been amazing to me. It's like he knows how to charm a girl it's really sweet.  As the interview continued, she talked about her fashion venues with Dollypop, and movies, like Matrix 2 and 3, and Honey.

Another DJ walked in in the middle of her interview, and decided to step in.

"So word on the street is you and Dame Dash are engaged?... " Aaliyah lifted her brow, not opting to answer directly, but saying softly. "That's personal, like why don't people ask him?! It's always me!" She said, making them laugh. The DJ shrugged, "Cool, you right, I do wanna ask him though ...Y'all are definitely what I most would consider an unlikely pair...I wanna ask the dude, like how he got with a girl like you.? " She swallowed before inquiring sweetly.
