Chapter One: The Beginning Of the beginning.
It was dark and it was cold, strange for a lovely summer night of June. In a quiet hospital in London, was a woman; By her side was a man, her partner and outside in the waiting room, sat her sister, her brother in law and her two best friend's. Quiet, the hospital did not stay.
Fiery red hair was pushed past them as she was wheeled into delivery, the large bulging stomach that inside, housed a life. Grey eyes watched in worry after the woman in the gurney, awaiting the moment when he'd be brought his child.
His child.
Even from where he sat, he could hear the screams of his dear lover, the sister in law of his best friend. The screams rang out through the hospital, female patients old enough to understand were feeling delight for the new mother and male patients just wanted it to stop.
Stop it didn't as the lights began to flicker. Grey eyes looked to his three best friends in confusion as his sister in law did too, alarms began to sound and the electronics went haywire. Then everything went dead, it was black and quiet from all except the screams and loud whistling of the wind outside.
The rain pattered on the window like an angry man with his fist, thunder boomed and lightning struck. One hour and Forty-Seven minutes later and everything stopped, thunder and lightning had calmed and the power was back on in the hospital. It was strange for everyone in the hospital, but his worries faded the moment a nurse came walking in.
''It's a beautiful, bouncing baby girl.'' She smiled at him, handing over his daughter carefully in the red blanket; a request no doubt made by his partner. The nurse smile at him once more before leaving him with the small girl in his arms.
''What're you going to name her?'' One of his best friends, asked with shining curiosity.
''Emma'' He answered immediately, eyes not wandering from the beautiful child.
Another of his best friends lent forward, elbows on knees with a warm smile on his scarred yet handsome face. ''I still can't believe you had a child before James.''
James potter let out a laugh, glancing down to his wife's own bulging stomach that still had a while yet before popping. ''Well, You know Sirius and Calla, Remus. Can barely keep them out of the bedroom since 7th year.''
Remus lupin rolled his eyes but the smile was still present. ''Don't remind me.''
Sirius Orion Black looked from friend to friend. One's that had been with him since first year of school, the memories they all held together and the one they just now shared was added to the list.
Emma Black was born at 11:59 on the 21st of June, 1980.
A bit more than a month later and Lily Evans was the third Evans sister to pop out a child. Little Harry James potter and Emma Black were the closest of cousins until one fateful night.
A year and three months after his birth, tragedy struck the potter household. After being told of a prophecy, one dark wizard set out to kill the small child in his crib. Emma at this moment in time was with Remus, While Calla and Sirius had a night of peace and quiet from the small girl's screams.
Calla had gotten the warning first, bolting off the sofa and out the door with an exclamation of Lily's name; pure fear dripping off the words. Lily's twin had gotten there in time to witness the death of one of her best friends.
James' face would be forever planted in her mind. New goal in mind, Calla raced after the dark wizard, stopping him in the hallway before he'd reached Harry's room. She could hear lily calling out for her to run but Calla would never leave her sister alone.
