Hello. How are you today? I'm going to tell you a story. This is the story of a flamboyant adolescent who is known to most as Garrett, he is known to some as loser, snitch and fighter. In the earlier portion of Garretts life, he was a nerd. He cared about nothing but Batman, Star Wars and family. He was a big kid, not fat, just taller and he carried more muscle then most kids but he didn't always know that. He was bullied for various reasons, some he still doesn't know. He would fight those who unfortunately chose to antagonize him and he would hurt them terribly. He didn't take pride in it, he would often go home and cry after he won all his fights because he hated (and still does) hurting people. He was seen as a bully by peers and teachers and any administrators who could speak to him. When he started 7th grade he was moved to a new school full of drugs and criminal activity with kids who were guaranteed to be felons by the age 16. Garrett had quickly adapted to this new environment but it still was difficult. He had weapons drawn towards him every other week and he was offered to sell, use and abuse drugs and he could have been in several gangs. He chose not do any of the stuff. He thought he had a future ahead of him that could be ruined by these bad opportunities. In 7th grade he tried out for the football team and made the team. He was getting jumped in the locker room after practices, games and it nearly ruined the sport, his passion for him. He had a psychotic girlfriend and a father who hated him. His doctor made him take pills that would depress him and it caused him to over-think things and because of them, he almost committed suicide. He eventually broke up with his crazy girlfriend and he stopped taking the pills and is still trying to come to terms with his father. The effects the pills had on his mind haven't gone away and Garrett fears they never will.
Now, Garrett is a football player, a friend, a hopeless romantic, a self-proclaimed comedian, a rapper, a cook, a writer and a brother. He loves to listen to Prince, Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many, many other artists. He loves to work out, watch Chick-Flicks, Rom-Coms and Dramas. He enjoys friends and family. He has become a jock who is still a giant nerd. He is still hurt by his past and current experiences. He is told he has a huge heart and that he is a lover, not a fighter. This is Garrett and so am I.
