[QUICK AUTHOR NOTE: Mira and Annie are not sisters in this story. I know that isn't actually true, but I had to do that to make it work in the story.]

It was Annie's first day at Acachalla High. She woke up and stared at the clock groggily. From what she could make out clearly, the clock read 7:34. This sent her into a flying frenzy. School started at 7:45. She didn't waste any time. She put her school clothes on while brushing her teeth. She took another look at the clock. It said 7:36. She knew it was going to take ten minutes to get to school. She rushed out of the door, grabbing her breakfast waffle on the way out. She ran to the school, with her school schedule in her left hand, waffle in her right, eating it as she ran. She ran into the entrance just as the bell rang. Another voice came from behind her.

"aw crap, aw crap, AW CRAP! I'm gonna be LATE!" exclaimed a male voice. Annie turned around. It was a short guy with long, black hair. He was carrying a sketchbook in his hands. "Ah, man! I'm late AGAIN!" He tripped over a rock, falling into the entrance and dropping his sketchbook. He quickly covered up a drawing of what Annie presumed to be a girl and some scribbly writing as he picked up the sketchbook, embarrassed. He looked up, and locked eyes with Annie.

"You okay?" Annie laughed at him. She offered to help him, but he refused, dusting himself off.

"It's fine. I'm used to this. I'm not what you call... coordinated." Taku responded, with an awkward chuckle afterward. "Wait, I've never seen you at this school before. Who are you?!" Taku asked nervously.

"Oh, I'm Annie, and you are?" She looked at her schedule, confused. "Do you know where a...Mr. Toast...English class is?" Annie asked.

"Ugh, Mr. Toast. I have him right now. He's CRAZY strict! And british, but that's irrelevant. He totally calls you out if you're late. But don't worry, I've got the perfect excuse to keep us both out of trouble. By the way, my name's Taku. Follow me, Annie." Taku explained. As he was walking up the stairs, he tripped over one of the stairs, setting off one of his usual nosebleeds. "It's fine." Taku said, disgruntled. He had just gotten a new hoodie yesterday, now it had blood on it. As he stood up, he said, "Don't worry about being quiet." Taku walked into Mr. Toast's blandly, but oddly British, decorated classroom.

"Taku, and the new student, Anneka Parks." The tall, stoic English teacher, Mr. Toast. "You two are late. Where have you been?" Mr. Toast asked, skeptically.

"I was, showing her around the school. Where else would I be?" Taku laughed nervously afterwards.

"There's blood covering your sweater, you're flustered, and you seem nervous. I don't buy your story." Mr. Toast declared. "Anneka, take a seat. Taku. Mrs. Principal Frye's office. NOW."

After that, a chorus of laughter arose from the classroom. Taku looked at the blonde, emerald-eyed girl sitting in the back. She met eyes with him as he walked out of the classroom, giving him a shameful look. He covered his face in shame as he walked away and to the principal's office.
