Its midnight, and a little girl approaches a door on the far end of a corridor, she opens it cautiously and looks at the bed contained within.
She lets out a shallow whimper as she approaches the bed, in pitch blackness.
"Mommy?"
The covers shift and a young woman sits up and rubs her eyes.
"What is it darling? Did you have a bad dream?"
The girl, now standing right beside the bed looking into her mother's eyes, replies in a shaken voice.
"No mommy, it's the Easter bunny, he's eating my candy."
The mother lets out a slight giggle and pulls the girl in close, resting her chin on the head of her child.
"Aww Hun, the Easter bunny doesn't eat candy, he only gives it out. Now go on back to bed, it's late"
The young girl looks towards the door and then back to her mother, her eyes now tearing up, she once again speaks but this time in a more serious voice.
"Please mommy, tell the Easter bunny to stop, or he is going to eat my candy... I love candy."
The mother pushes the girl back slightly, not so to hurt her, but to let her know she is now getting angry. She turns her daughter around and speaks once more.
"Listen to me, the Easter bunny doesn't eat candy, he only gives it out to girls and boys, now please try and forget about the Easter bunny, it's not even Easter yet."
The young girl lets out a sigh and makes her way out of the room, before she leaves she turns her head to face her mother, she has already gone back to sleep.
On her way back to her room, she looks at the Easter bunny and begins to speak to him
"My mummy said I have to ignore you and I have to go to bed"
"That's a good idea" replies the rabbit, without even turning to look at the child,
"I'm pretty full now anyway, farewell."
The girl then opens her door sobbing quietly, before she enters, the Easter bunny flicks a piece of leather through the door and it lands at the foot of the bed. The girl turns on her light and approaches the item, as she picks it up her crying intensifies as she reads the name that is engraved on the collar...
"Candy"
