"That was good Kate, but I think you can do better. Should we start from the top again?" My voice teacher, Mr. Clark asks me.
Today is just another Wednesday night, mid December. Every Wednesday night I have voice lessons. I'm trying to improve my voice so when the time comes, I will be ready for fame. Being famous not only happens to be my life goal, but it could even be in reach. If, I can fix my voice enough. Not that I even want to necessarily be famous for singing. I would prefer to be an actor, but singing goes along right with that.
I look down at my music. It's one of the songs I picked for Solo and Ensemble. I'm not really a huge fan of this song but Mr. Clark seems to like it, so I go along with it.
Mr. Clark starts playing the introduction again on the piano, and I look around the small practice room.
I notice something at the door, so I glance in it's direction. Outside, my mom is holding up her iPad, pointing at something.
When she realizes that she's making eye contact with me, she speaks, "Robbie Kay is going to the Once Upon a Time convention!"
Even though the door is closed, I can hear her perfectly.
Right as she says that, I start jumping up and down. I hold back my first reaction: to scream. Then I remember where I am. Mr. Clark is giving me a weird look. I guess I'm going to have to explain.
"I'm going to meet my favorite actor," I already decided.
Mr. Clark just nods and laughs.
I probably looked so stupid when I was jumping up and down. I'm seventeen years old, not fourteen anymore.
I'm glad I'm not fourteen anymore. If I was, I know I wouldn't be able to hold back all my excitement.

** (a month later)

My mom and I walk back to the apartment we're staying in in Hawaii after a long morning tanning at the beach. I love Hawaii, it has to be one of my favorite places ever. I'm so glad that Mom has a best friend here. If she didn't, we wouldn't be coming here as much as we do.
"Kate, the Once Upon a Time convention in New Jersey has just opened for sales," Mom says, looking down at her phone.
"Oh my god! Mom you have to buy it now!" I exclaim, wishing the elevator would rise faster.
Our apartment is on one of the top floors. Not that I'm complaining. We're lucky we have such of a nice place to stay. Especially right in Waikiki.
We rush to the room, and Mom goes onto her iPad. She quickly selects a photo-op with Robbie and Lana, and the tickets for admission.
I watch her with anxiousness. I can't believe I'm going to be meeting my celebrity crush from two years ago! This is crazy!
After my mom buys the tickets, she has to buy the hotel rooms for the dates we're going to be there (since we don't live in New Jersey). She calls the hotel, and the lady says that the rooms are already sold out.
"Are you kidding me?" Mom laughs, trying to keep her chill with the lady on the phone.
Pause.
"Yes. Anything would be helpful."
Pause.
"Great. Thanks for all your help!" My mom hangs up the phone.
"She said that all the rooms were already booked, but she was able to find us one. I'm glad I did this now," Mom sighs of relief.
"Me too," I nod, looking at the sliding door that leads to the lanai.
"Enough stress. Let's go shopping," Mom grins and we grab our bags and head out.
