"I love you." This is me. I'm in a sexy blue dress and finally saying it. I take a deep breath and say the words. "I love you too" he says, kissing me. He's in a tuxedo and looking better than ever. This is the highest I've ever felt. He loves me. He actually loves me! I jump for joy, breaking the kiss and he puts his arms around me. His strong arms. I smile, looking up at him and he's looking down at me. "I love you" I murmur. He removes his arms from my waist and put them on my shoulders. Then he shakes me like a snow globe. "Wake up Harmony, wake up!" He's shouting in my ear now. "Wake up!" I wake up with a start, feeling cold and alone. I'm in my room. It's winter and I'm not in a sexy blue dress. I'm in my pajamas. I was just dreaming. Again. "Wake up Harmony!" That's my abusive father, Henry, who never tires of hitting me. "Yes" I say, quickly getting out of bed and staring at my broken watch, the one I had attempted to fix with gum, but with no success. I shoved my socked feet into slippers and rush to the bathroom, the only one in our teeny tiny apartment. I shower, making it quick and refreshing before charging into my room and dress into my school uniform. Campbell High, named after Julia Campbell, the founder of the school. I looked into the mirror of my dad's room to glance at my horrifying reflection. Sighing, I tied my hair in a simple ponytail and wondered for the hundredth time, why they were called that. Brushing stray wisps of my blonde hair out of my eyes I hurried to the kitchen, to make two cups of tea, one for me and one for my dad, even though I had stressed how much I hated tea. "Morning" my father called and I greeted him back, slightly surprised. My dad never paid this much attention to me, and I wondered what was going on. After making the tea I ate the identical breakfast as my dad, egg sandwiches. I munched, listening to the TV and thought about life, but never letting myself get too lost in my daydream. When I had finished I placed my plate in the sink and spilled the tea, which I had taken three sips of, down the drain. I rushed and slipped on my blue blazer. I looked at myself in the mirror and sighed again. I was ugly. I had thick curly blonde hair and I was slim. My skin was lightly tanned and I had green eyes. I looked like my mother. She was beautiful and had a lovely smile, but she smoked and now she had cancer, so her lovely hair and bright eyes were gone and so was her lovely smile. She never took care of me and my father was bitter towards her because she had forced him to take care of me, a task he never wanted to do. Which cause him to hate me, which was fine, since I hated him too. I was quiet all the ride to school, though he tried to make conversation. Things had always been awkward between us but when I turned 17 this year (February 23rd) things had been really awkward. It's because I'm growing up and I guess it's kind of weird when your daughter get her period and your the only adult in the house (it was at school, by the way, and my friend Hillary lent me a pad). So maybe he does mean well, he just finds it weird that I'm growing into the young woman I was meant to be. Yeah right, and flying pigs really do exist.
