Ramaiyya retired as a Senior Postman of Dakshinapura village. There are no places, homes and people he didn't know in this village. Ramaiyya who didn't have a family started spending his retirement life in the tea stall at the junction. Everyday Ramaiyya would get ready walk to the tea stall and sit there on the bench laid out reading newspaper and sipping his hot ginger tea.
Daily four or five people would stop by the tea stall to ask their way. Ramaiyya every time would smile happily and help them with the route.
Today Ramaiyya is 78. He still wakes up early in the morning gets ready and goes to the tea stall. The old tea stall is now a restaurant with tables and chairs but his old bench is still laid out for him. The village has now turned into a town. Number of people visiting Dakshinapura has increased but nobody stops by Ramaiyya asking for directions anymore.
Ramaiyya still waits outside the restaurant to smile at the passerby asking for directions not knowing about the advancement in technology.
Its not just Ramaiyya but many others who waits to smile at people and help them to reach their destination. Let's look out to more Ramaiyyas and widen our smile.
