The village of Parvus was a small hamlet. Only about 37 bananas lived in the village of Parvus. Merchants came through every couple months. Friends greeted one another as they walked throughout the small market. However, Parvus was home to a very special banana.

This banana's name was Billy.

Billy didn't know he was different. He had grown up with the other banana kids. He made friends with almost everyone. He went to school and worked on his parents' apple farm like any other banana in Parvus.

Billy wasn't very religious. There was no temple in Parvus. The villagers only prayed to the gods when they were in grave danger, which was never. Why would they put their trust in someone they've never seen before?

Billy enjoyed the marketplace in Parvus. He liked to watch the guards battle each other when they came with the merchants. Sometimes a guard would give Billy a lesson on sword fighting.

Billy liked that.

He had no idea how his life would change when he turned 17.

Billy had a dream a month before his seventeenth birthday. He could only see two blurry figures. A male voice warned him of the dangers coming his way. Billy asked the male voice what kind of dangers were coming, but the voice never answered back. Instead, a female voice told him to keep an eye out for a female warrior. The dream ended before Billy could react to this statement.

Billy was confused when he woke up. Bananas didn't rarely dreamed at night, especially dreams as vivid as that. If a banana did happen to get a dream, they usually forgot it within a few minutes.

Billy couldn't forget this dream. He thought about it constantly. He zoned out in class and during chats with his friends. His teacher grew concerned with Billy's behavior. She cornered him after class one day to talk to him. When he couldn't give a straight answer, she reluctantly allowed him to go home.

Billy's friends began to abandon him. Billy no longer went to the market to watch the guards. Instead, he locked himself up in his room, staring at his bedroom ceiling. He ignored the calls from parents from the other side of the door.

Eventually, he got up one day. He walked around the marketplace. He talked to his friends, apologizing for ignoring them earlier.

Billy's friends saw how different Billy was. He became nervous, jumping at loud noises and sudden movement. He constantly looked behind him, as if searching for something dangerous.

Billy grew more carefree as his birthday approached. He forgot about the dream and hung out with his friends. He became less nervous and actually interacted with the other bananas in the village.

Finally, it was Billy's birthday. All of Parvus came to the village center to celebrate Billy's birthday, as they did for anyone else. They ate cake, opened presents, and danced throughout the day.

No one saw the monkeys in the shadows.

Unfortunately for Parvus, there were no guards present that day. The monkeys stormed the town. They showed no mercy. Bananas were slain, shops were destroyed, fields trampled. Bananas fled from the village center, hiding from the monkeys as they roamed the streets. Billy himself hid in a cellar.

Then the fire came.

One of the monkeys lit a match and threw it at a nearby building. Because Parvus was such a small village, all buildings in the village were made of wood. The entire village went up in flames. Buildings collapsed from the fire damage. By the next morning, all that was left of the village was smoldering ashes.

Billy slowly climbed out of the cellar he had hidden in. He looked around, only to see the demolished village of Parvus. He walked around the ruins, calling out for any survivors. He was forced to step over the bodies of his fellow villagers in his search.

No one responded. Billy refused to accept that he was the lone survivor. He continued his search until nightfall.

He collapsed in the middle of a forest, crying. Everyone he had grown up with was dead. Billy didn't know what to do. The nearest town was 5 days away, but he had no clue where to go. Billy had never left Parvus, there was no need to leave.

Billy cried himself to sleep. Owls hooted and small animals scurried in the grass as the night went on. At some point, a dark orange mist came through the forest where Billy slept. It hovered over him until dawn, giving off a threatening aura. The mist faded away when the sun rose.

Billy awoke to a deer in his face. He yelped, scaring off the deer. He rubbed his eyes and glanced around at his surroundings. Trees surrounded him, discouraging him from figuring out which way he had come from. He decided to just pick a random direction and walk until he found another village.

Billy had a lot to think about on his journey. For one, he had no food or supplies with him. He would have to find food along the way and make supplies whenever possible.

Secondly, he grieved for his village. He was very close to everyone there. His mother would always greet him with a smile and a snack when he got home from school. His father would help him with his homework and take him on small adventures through Parvus. His teachers and friends supported him no matter what.

Billy truly believed that the destruction of Parvus was his fault. He had been warned of the attack, but never bothered to tell anyone. He had the chance to save Parvus. The guards could have stayed behind to help fight the monkeys.

Billy traveled through the forest for two weeks. In that time, he became much skinnier from the lack of food. He drank from streams he found in the forest and ate berries from bushes. He never noticed the dark green mist that seemed to follow him in the shadows.

Eventually, Billy found a path in the forest. He followed it until he reached the outskirts of a busy town. The town's buildings were well built, and the citizens looked quite wealthy. Billy could tell that he would be judged if he entered the town.

A voice urged Billy to enter the town despite the risk. It reminded him that he had no home, and that this town could help him. Billy thought the voice sounded familiar. He had turned around to walk away when the voice told him the name of the town, Queentia.

Billy's parents had told him about this town when he was a child. This was the town of opportunities. Queentia was known for its friendly citizens who never hesitated to help a stranger. They would give them food, supplies, and sometimes even a home.

Billy knew he had to take this chance. Coming to Queentia was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The voice cheered when he resumed walking towards Queentia. Despite the strangeness of everything, Billy smiled.

And there's Billy! I think I'm going to keep writing this story in this style. It's different, but let me know what you think. I would love to hear your thoughts. Keep in mind I have nearly NOTHING planned for this. I am completely open to suggestions, whether they be plot ideas or ways to improve the writing. I have no clue where this is going, I'm just making this up as I go. Updates for this book will be on Wednesdays. See you later!
