Love at First Sight: Caroline's Story

Chapter 1

Wakes up to see what day and time it is. "Finally, I can go to public school and be away from my crazy mother. It only took 3 years but now I can go to high school as a new freshman and not be so lonely." Walks down stairs to see her mother was still weeping over her step-father. " I thought he was supposed to be home from being deployed?" Stated her mother. "He should be home soon, I hope at least." "Are you ready for your first day of official high school?", " well of course I am." Said Caroline. "What time does the bus come to pick me up?" "In about 5 minutes, so you might want to hurry up." Said the mom. As it hits 7:15 am the bus is waiting outside as Caroline is wearing her black skinny jeans and white loose shirt with a sports bra on underneath. She gets on the bus and looks for a seat. While looking for a seat there is one all the way in the back that is near the more trouble-making kids. (Thinking in her mind) " I really don't want to sit back there! Maybe, I'll see if I can sit with someone up front or in the middle." As she looks around a girl that looks as terrified as she was. " umm, can I sit with you?" Getting startled the girl says " um, sure." Caroline friendly introduces herself. " hello, my name is Caroline." The girl looks over and smiles. " I really like that name, my name is Annabeth." Caroline smiles back. "I'm going to be a freshman and I'm also going to a public school for the first time." Annabeth looks sympathetic. " I'm a freshman too but I've been going to public school all my life. Honestly, it's not as good as you think because there are bullies,drugs, and more. And you can get pulled into the wrong crowd." As Annabeth was saying that a boy from the back of the bus pushes over a kid from the seat across Annabeth and Caroline. "Hey, you wanna come to the back of the bus with me and the other boys?" Annoyed Annabeth said " um, no and why don't you just leave both of us alone." The boy looks surprised. " Well, damn looks like we have a fighter." "Why don't you just go back to the circus and stay there you freak." Caroline said pissed off and flashing daggers in her eyes. The boy sees she's pissed. " fine but when your bullied don't run to us because we won't save you." With a sinister look and laughed and walked back to the back of the bus. Annabeth is so annoyed she ignored Caroline for the rest of the bus ride. Caroline puts in earbuds and listens to her music. When they got to Ravenport Highschool the bus opened Caroline let Annabeth out before her to know she was the last person off the bus. Caroline waited in the courtyard of the school looking at the other students who had friends. (Thinking) "Well I think I lost my chance at making friends with Annabeth. She didn't seem like she wanted to talk after that guy showed up and I yelled. Does she think I'm mean or rude I hope not she didn't seem like she wanted him there either so?" Thinking and staring in a gaze a upperclassman walks up. "Hello and welcome to Ravenport High, you must be new I'm Alex." Waking from the daze Caroline looks at Alex and smiles. "Hi I'm Caroline. And yeah I'm new." Alex looks down "I'm a junior. So if you need help you can ask me anything." "Um well I do have a question do you know where the principals office is?" Caroline asked. "Yep it's just down that hall to the left then the second door on the right." Alex stated. "Thanks, well the bells going to ring soon right I don't want you to be worrying about me." Caroline said trying to make a friend. "Yeah the bell rings soon I have to go to gym. Hey if I see you at lunch is it okay if I sit with you?" Asked Alex. "Yeah that would be great, have fun at gym." Caroline said walking towards the principals office. The secretary was filling out paperwork when she saw Caroline walk in. " well hello darling, what do you need?" Caroline answers " I'm Caroline I'm here to speak with the principal." The secratary smiles "I'll go get her and see if she wants to see you in her office ." Caroline looks relieved "Okay, Thank you!" Secratary comes out of the office. "You can go in." Caroline turns as walking in. "Thank you again!" As she walks slowly into the principals office she sees what she didn't expect. She expected to see a older lady with a grey bun and a pan suit like all the TV shows, but instead she saw a young blonde woman in a black dress. "Hello dear, what seems to be the problem? " Caroline looks "I don't know the rules of school. I really didn't have any school rules when I was homeschooled!" Surprised the principal looks at her ." Well we have a uniform that will be handed at a assembly in about 2 hours and we have a no tolerance for bullying, more rules will be explained at the assembly and different classrooms have different rules in them so you will have to go to your classes to find out their rules." A little bummed Caroline looks down at the ground." Umm, how do you get to literature with Mr. Johnson?" Smiling the principal walks Caroline out of the office." It's up those stairs and to the hallway on the left then the far door on the left. There should be a sign if you can't find it." Relieved Caroline walks on." Thank you!" Caroline walks towards where the principal said and runs into another student. "Oh, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to run into you." He turns around "It's okay, I'm lost I'm looking for Mr. Johnson's class." Happy, Caroline looks at the boy. " I am too, oh by the way my name is Caroline." Knowing he's not alone he smiles. "My name is Leyon." They both smile and start looking for their class together. After 3 minutes of looking they finally found it and right before the class began.
