"Mr.Parker" The blonde and silver haired woman said as she shuffled some papers around on her desk, " Do you know why you're here Mr.Parker?" He was spacing off, his chin resting in the palm of his hand. "Mr.Parker.", The counselor repeated. "Peter!"
Sitting up, suddenly brought out of his daze he pushed a hand through his hair and muttered, "What? I'm sorry Mrs.Grant. Can you repeat that?"
With an irritated sigh she narrowed her eyes at Peter, "I understand you've recently had some..hardships..in your life but it's no excuse for your behavior. Your grades have dropped, you've been cutting class and when you do show up you're falling asleep. I understand things are tough but it's no excuse to let your grades drop..and to be involved in such risky behavior."
"Hardships? I'm an orphan, I live with my Aunt and Uncle. My uncle was shot, and my girlfriend was killed in a lab accident. It's not like I just failed a test, or got grounded Mrs.Grant.", he said a bit coldly.
She slid a few pamphlets across the desk, "I understand, but Peter..that's not the answer there are better things out there."
Furrowing his brow in confusion he glanced down at the pamphlets and exclaimed in frustration, "I'M NOT ON DRUGS!"
Mrs.Grant pressed her thin lips into a straight line, " Mr.Parker, you're not in trouble. I'm not here to judge. I'm here to help you."
He stood up and pulled on his backpack, reaching for the door. The counselor frowned and said, "At least take one." Rolling his eyes Peter picked up the Teen Addiction Rehabilitation pamphlet and left the office, tossing the crumbled paper into the nearest trashcan. He adjusted the strap of his backpack and headed down the empty hall. He wasn't going back to fifth period he headed straight out of the school.
Aunt May was at work, leaving the house empty. Peter dropped his bag onto the floor of his room as he locked his door, sitting down at his desk and pulling out his torn up suit. Reaching over he turned on some music and started to stitch up the holes in his suit. A year ago he got bit, and since then everything was falling apart. Sure, with great power comes great responsibility but this was ridiculous. Without his parents around Aunt May and Uncle Ben were the closest thing to family he had. And Uncle Ben was dead, it was his fault. If only he'd just picked up the milk instead of trying to be a hero. Then there was Gwen, her father was determined to bring down Spiderman, but Gwen..she knew it was Peter. He loved her, and he watched her die in the lab at Oscorps. They shut the whole place down on quarantine. Nobody in, nobody out. Even if he could have saved her..then many more would have died in he process. 47 people died that day, and Gwen was one of them. He wasn't on drugs, he was just tired. Every night he spent hours fighting crime as the masked vigilante Spiderman. If he couldn't save her, he was going to try and save everyone.
