I slam my locker door shut after taking all of my stuff out of it. Summer was finally here! I can't believe it! 6th grade flew past quickly! I skip down the hallway passing my arch nemesis and his girlfriend.
Sawyer is pretty handsome, light brown  hair, hunter green eyes, tan skin. He is the 'hottest' guy in school. Every girl is falling for him, well with the exception of me.
I hate him.
He's a bully, bad mouth, and just a bad influence! He cusses so often, I honestly wish he didn't. Anyways, his girlfriend, Carly, has her hands pressed up against his chest staring up at him.
"It was a good relationship while it lasted." I hear her say.
"I still can't believe I got into AAE and you didn't." He sighs. My stomach lurches all the way into my throat.
HE GOT INTO AAE?! How?! Why?!
AAE stands for Advanced Academic Education, it's only for highly advanced students.
HOW DID SAWYER MICHAELS GET IN?!
This program took me forever to research, it apparently is a super tough program and I had gotten in.
I sigh and comb a hand through my dark brown hair. I begin walking again, thinking about what I will do over the summer trying to take my mind of of spending my entire High School life with Sawyer. I cringe at the thought and walk down the steps of the school.
'Oh, I know! I'll play soccer!' I think excitedly. I take off running down the sidewalk until I feel a tug on my book bag.
"You? Play soccer?" A hollow voice says. Crap so I didn't think it-I said it! I turn and look up with hunter green eyes staring into my skull.
"Yeah you have a problem with that?" I snap. Sawyer smirks.
"And what if I do?"
"It's my choice not yours." I reply easily. With one easy swipe a have a tingling pain on my cheek, he had slapped me. I hold in stinging tears. "I could call the cops right now-you could be taken to juvie!"
"Oh really? How so?" He chuckles. I smirk as a tear runs down my face.
"You know the law where makes aren't supposed to be harmful to a female?"
"...yeah..."
"Well that applies for teens and up."
Sawyer's jaw drops slightly. Catching him off guard I kick him in the crotch and land a kick on the side of his head. He slumps to the ground and I take off down the sidewalk towards my house, tears streaming from my eyes.
I wanted to go to AAE but I didn't wanna have to deal with Sawyer for another 4 or 5 years. I rush into my house and run up the stairs before my mom has the chance to ask me what happened. I sit on my bed crying and hugging my knees. I hear my mom jog up to my room.
"Cyan! What happened?! Why do you have a print on your face?! Was it Sawyer?" My mother asks. I look at my mother, she was beautiful, long silky light brown ringlets at the end of her hair, milky brown eyes and pale skin with freckles. I nod hesitantly.
"But I'm fine now...momma I wanna play soccer." I tell her.
"Soccer? Well I never thought I would hear you say that." My mom looks surprised. " But I suppose if that's what you want." She replies. I nod. "I'll sign you up tonight and you'll start tomorrow afternoon." She says.
When she leaves the room, I curl my legs up to my chest and start to drift off to sleep.

I wake up the next morning with tons of energy, I have never felt so charged! I place my feet on the floor and dart down to the living room where my mom is.
"Your soccer stuff is on the table." She says. I walk to the kitchen to get it and smile when I see it. Bright blue knee high socks, blue and silver cleats, a sky blue sleeveless hoodie, and black and silver soccer shorts.
"Thanks mom!" I shout.
"Go ahead and get ready, you slept till 1!" my mom says. I gasp and look at the time 1:02?! "Cyan if you want food hurry up-you've gotta be there by 1:30."
I nod and run up to my room with my soccer wear. I change and put my cleats on lacing them up tightly. The shorts showed off my slender legs and the hoodie showed off my small arms.
I've always been self-conscious or insecure about my physical appearance so this was really new for me. I run down stairs happily and see my mom putting on her shoes.
"How 'bout we make a quick stop at subway."
I clap my hands.
"Subway!" I cheer. My mom kicks me a a black and white soccer ball with my name sketched across it. I smile at my mom in silent thanks and we walk out to the car.
"Alright kiddo, all set?" She asks.
"Yep!" I look in front of me catching a glimpse of my family picture. I'm a only child and my dad...my dad was killed.
A man really hated my dad for marrying my mom-because this man loved my mom (I don't know who he is). So he stabbed my dad multiple times as he got out of the car to go inside. I watched my father get murdered right in front of me...at only age 8. I continue to ask mom if she'll remarry. But the answers the same  every time.
No.
She says she made her vows to dad, and she'll keep her vows to him even if he's dead. Of course I know not to argue with mom so...
I stare out the window my stomach churning at all the bad thoughts.
What if they think I'm weak? What if they think I'm ugly? What if, what if, what if! I shiver at it all under my dads murder trial this is one of the most nerve racking things ever.
We arrive at subway and I see a girl my age with a pink soccer jersey, black soccer shorts, and black and pink cleats. She was with a girl with red hair,  green eyes and pale skin with freckles sprinkled all over her face, and everything she had was green and black. The pink girl had chocolate brown skin, with black hair and striking blue eyes. Guessing her dad had blue eyes.
I gasp.
"Look Cyan, more soccer girls." My mom says when we get out of the car. My mom walks into the building as I shuffle closely behind. The two girls see me and stare for a second.
The red head girl smiles and waves.
The pink jersey girl runs up to me.
"Are you playing summer soccer too?" She asks. I nod hesitantly.
"Yay!" The red head cheers. "You can sit with us if you'd like. Oh and I'm Jenny and this is Jackie"
"Nice to meet you. I'm Cyan." I say.
"Si-yan...Cyan! I like it! Isn't it a color?" Jackie asks.
I nod.
"It happens to be my favorite in fact." I reply.
"I like when it's neon!" Jenny jumps up and down as my mom orders my food. I shuffle over to their table, my mom hands me my food and goes to sit with their moms.
"So you excited for soccer?" Jenny asks taking a bite of her sub. I nod unwrapping mine.
"This your first year?" Jackie asks.
"Yeah." I pick up my sub and take a bite chewing it and savoring the flavor.
"I gotta find time to do it more, I got into AAE with Jenny so..." Jackie sighs. My eyes light up and I swallow.
"Oh my goodness! Really? So did i!" I exclaim. Jackie and Jenny smile.
"Yay!"
"Awesome! I can tell we'll be good friends!" Jenny laughs.
Friends.
Good Friends.
I haven't heard those words in a long time.
"That would be great!" I agree happily.

Once we had finished our food we went to the soccer felid.
"Whoa! Hot guy alert!" Jenny gasps.
"Let me see!" Jackie peers over her shoulder. They were looking at a boy, with light brown hair and tan skin. When he turned around I immediately knew who it was.
I was on a team with Sawyer Michaels.
