Tobin's POV
The ball whistled through the rain and landed on the wet turf with a thud. I, Tobin Heath, #17, trapped it with the inside of my foot and made a quick turn, facing the goal. I started to dribble and watched the ball carefully slide through the slick ground.
I soon saw Alex Morgan, #13, making a perfect run towards goal. I served the ball up and over the defenders and it quickly made contact with Alex's head and into the back of the net.
GOAL! Alex sprints towards me and she crashes into me with a huge bear hug. Everyone on our team was cheering and they got cut off by,
"Great practice girls! Pick up everything and huddle up!" Coach says and the team immediately follows the order.
Coach gives us a small speech and then we break and everyone goes to the locker room. Alex and I walk side by side into the locker room and find our lockers, which are also side by side. We both start to change out of our practice clothes with a little small talk.
"Hey, you walked here this morning right?" I asked.
"Yeah, we walked together... remember?" Alex answers with her own question.
"Oh, yeah!" I say, laughing.
"You two! Hurry up I want to go!" Kelley O'hara yells from the other end of the locker room. Kelley is our other best friend, she completes the Holy Trinity.
Alex and I hurry up and finish in the locker room and start to walk back with Kelley. Most of the team lived in the same apartment complex close to the field. If they didn't, they lived in a house close by or just ended up crashing in one of our apartments.
So, it wasn't a challenge to walk back and forth, which is what most of us always ended up doing.
When we arrived at our apartments, we started to go our separate ways. Alex's apartment was right across from mine but Kelley's was farther down the walkway by Hope's.
As soon as I got to throw myself onto my bed, I heard the phone start to ring
"Hello?" I said without checking who it was.
"Tobito! Let's do something tonight!" replied the person on the other end.
"Kelley, I saw you like 30 seconds ago." I said, trying to ignore the nick name that was given.
"So... I'm bored," Kelley said.
"Don't you have Hope to bother?" I joked around. I have had a theory for a while that they are secretly in love with each other ever since Kelley called Hope hot. Coincidentally, their apartments were right across from each others.
"Whatever, I'm coming over," She finally said and hung up.
Ugh, I stood up and started to tidy up my apartment. Not that I cared about cleaning for Kelley to come over but I wanted to make it look like I took care of my apartment and not just sleep around all day.
Which I do...
After a couple minutes of picking dirty clothes up off the floor and chip bags, I went over to check what Alex was doing.
Crossing the sidewalk and walking up the stairs that separates our apartments, I quickly knocked on the door and waited. Soon, something came that I didn't expect...
Alex walked out, but not the Alex that I see everyday. The Alex that is always down to be covered in dirt, mud and sweat, suddenly turned into one that was wearing heels, and a black dress.
Wow, she's is beautiful. The way that dress just looks on her makes me feel... wait, what?
I stood there with my mouth hanging open, almost drooling until someone knocked me out of my daze.
"Tobin, lets go!" I heard Kelley yell from behind me
"I'll be there in a sec, it's unlocked." I say back.
After being woken up from my fantasy world, I finally can say something without stuttering every word.
"Where are you going?" I say.
"Wow, she can speak!" Alex replies. I must've stood there longer than I thought.
"Haha, funny. Really though? You got a hot date?" With me? I shake my head trying to ignore all the things I want to do to her.
"Toby, you sure you're okay?" She says noticing the midfielders weird actions.
"Yeah, again, what are you doing tonight?" I ask leaning against the door frame.
"You're right, I got a date." She says.
"Oh, okay, well I was just going to invite you over but you already got plans so... Have fun, but not too much fun!" I say putting on my signature smirk and starting to walk away.
When I turn around I run into Kelley, who of course was listening to our conversation. I let out a squeal and fall down a couple stairs. Not enough to hurt or break anything, maybe some bruises and blood, but enough to make Kelley and Alex bust out laughing
Smooth, Tobin.
I hear Alex laugh behind me, and it sounds like an angel. How have I never noticed this before?
I realize I must've not noticed Kelley because I was too focused on Alex and a bed...
"Yeah, yeah, It's so funny. Kelley, let's go!" I say urgently attempting to get out of the situation that I landed in.
I could tell I was blushing. I could tell I was blushing when Alex opened her door and I saw her. It took lot of convincing and pushing, but I finally got them to stop laughing and get Kelley back into my apartment and Alex into hers.
After a while of making snacks and cleaning up my bloody knee from the fall. Kelley and I finally get settled on the couch and start to binge watch The 100. I couldn't pay attention though because I could feel Kelley staring me down.
"What?!" I finally say, getting fed up.
"Nothing." She says putting on a small smirk.
"Obviously It's something or you would be focusing on the TV show not me!" I say.
"It's just I never knew you were into girls." She breaks out into a full-on smile.
"What?! I'm not?" At least I don't think I am.
I come from a very religious family. It's not that I think being gay is wrong or anything, but my parents do. Small town kids follow the bible, just like everyone else in their town. I was told being with anyone but a man is wrong, but that doesn't mean I am not accepting.
That's why I know Kelley is bisexual and she knew I would be accepting when she came out to me and the team.
"That's not what your body language says," She continues, "You might as well be a puddle because you melted when you saw Alex."
"No, I did not!"
"Yes, you did!"
This argument went on for a couple minutes until I said,
"I do not have any feelings for Alex Morgan, what so ever."
"For now..." She said and I decided to ignore and drop the conversation all together.
