Everything began when I was at Amy's house. Amy was only my friend for a short time. She was mean and nasty behind my back although nice to my face. Her best friend was Jamie, who was a lot like Amy, except much quieter. She was the sneaky one, very shy and quiet around me, yet I had caught her numerous times being openly talkative with Amy. The only reason Jamie was Amy's best friend was because Jamie let her boss her around.
My name is Kiara. I have two best friends, Bianca and Liana. We often try to avoid Amy and Jamie as much as possible. They get us into trouble and nothing more. Amy acts nice to our faces. Jamie just keeps quiet and stands there with a silly smile on her face, watching Amy as she comments rudely.
Once, we caught Amy talking to Jamie in the school hallway. Jamie was talking very openly to Amy about a plot to get the three of us in trouble by sticking cheat sheet lists to our desks for the spelling test. Luckily, Bianca and I were able to avoid it. Unfortunately, the teacher saw the list by Liana's desk before we were able to warn her. Liana was furious, and had to stay after school for two whole weeks. Amy and Jamie thought that was a riot. But Bianca and I sure didn't.
I guess this is the time to tell you about one of the most interesting life experiences I have gone through. I thought it was going to be a normal day at Bianca's house, but it took an unexpected turn.
I pedaled on my bike some more, almost at Bianca's house. We had arranged to get together today. I could see Bianca appear in the sunlight, waving to me as she ran out of the house. I hopped off my bike and walked up her driveway, brushing back my long red hair in two pigtails. I was so excited to see her! I hadn't seen her in a whole week, as I had gone on a trip to visit my grandparents. "Hey Bianca!" I called.
"Kiara! How are you?" Bianca hugged me and I hugged her back. "Hey, I've just got this feeling Amy is up to something today and whatever it is will happen today. We've got to think of something."
I giggled a little. "Bianca, Amy is always up to something. She never stops looking for ways to get us in trouble."
"Well, yeah. But I think she will do something today," Bianca said, twirling her long blond ponytail. "I just think something."
"What kind of something?" I asked.
"I don't know. I-I guess just a feeling," Bianca said.
I started to realize something. I had been thinking about Amy last night also. "Actually, I've been feeling it also," I said quietly, looking down at the grass. "Like they're up to something. Last night when we were texting, you saw how Amy kept joining our chats and adding us to hers even though we blocked her. It was as if something magical was up."
We entered Bianca's living room. The curtains were only open halfway, and a beam of sunlight cast on the carpeted floor. "Magic?" Bianca looked puzzled.
"Yes. It seemed like something was up and it wasn't just Amy being Amy."
"You're right, Kiara. I don't think we should trust her or Jamie at all."
"Of course not. You saw how they got Liana in trouble at the beginning of the school year. But what should we do to stop them from doing anything worse?"
"I don't know." Bianca sat down on the couch and I sat beside her. "But whatever the feeling is, it's probably nothing. I mean, what could Amy do that could possible ruin our friendship? I'll be here for you no matter what, I know for sure." Bianca hugged me again. I smiled and gratefully hugged her back. I was so lucky to have such a great friend.
But where was Liana? She should have been turning up pretty soon. Yesterday evening she had told me she was going to join in on the get together today.
"Thanks, Bianca. But I wonder where Liana is," I commented.
Bianca looked at me thoughtfully. "Hmm, yes. She said she would be coming today at 10 this morning."
"Well, I guess she is just running a little late," I suggested.
"Yeah probably," Bianca agreed, getting up from the couch. "Want to watch a movie?"
"Sure!" I brightened up at the idea. Hopefully the movie would help pass the time until Liana arrived.
"Which one?" Bianca said, handing me a box of DVDs.
I began to look through them, until I was interrupted by a fierce knock at the door. I froze, and Bianca turned to the door.
"Kiara? Bianca?" More knocking. "I know you're in there. Show yourselves."
Bianca and I looked at each other as the same thought crossed our minds.
Amy.
