"What do you mean your leaving! Your my son and I'll tell you when you get to leave!" My dad slammed his fists against the table full of rage while he said that. All I could think about is why he acted this way, I mean he hasn't even been in my life for 6 years because he decided to abuse me and my sister after my mom's death. He took all of his anger, pain, and frustration out on us for no reason, I was tired of it. "I hate you, all you ever do is yell at me and Jade like we're cage animals or something!" I grabbed Jade's hand and ran to our room, slamming the door when we entered. When the door closed I turned to see Jade balled up, crying on her bed. All I could do is try to comfort her, I was literally the only family she had. Who knew that the man who was suppose to protect her and treat her like a princess, would do the opposite and hurt her every single day of her life. I couldn't bare to see her like this, I had to do something. That night, I went to the bedroom door, locked it and quickly started to pack clothes for my sister and I. I went under my bed and grabbed the food I stashed from the cabinets while my dad was passed out from drinking so many beers. When I got everything packed up, I went to my desk and put the $348 I saved up in my pocket. I woke my sister Jade up so that she could get ready to leave. As waited I looked at the picture I had in my hands, it was me and my mom. I remember her telling me when she was on her death bed to make sure that I protect Jade no matter what. I've always did as she said. When my dad tried to punch her in the face and in her stomach, I would step in front of it and take the beating. I put the picture in my bag and signalled Jade to come on. I opened the window and started to cut the screen with my knife. Only half way done we heard slow footsteps coming towards the room. In a panic I cut faster while Jade tried to barricade the door. I had finally got it opened and slipped Jade and our bags through the hole, then myself. Luckily my dad decided to pass our door and go to the kitchen instead. I took a deep breath, realizing that this is a fresh start.
