Lainee's  P.O.V:

The cold winter air bit at my nose, and I wrapped my coat tighter around me to capture the warmth. I looked over at Jake, and smile at him. He was at his doorway, and ran over to me.  He gathered me in one last hug, and spun me around. He slowly let me back down on the ground. His forehead touching mine and his arms constricted around my waist. He unwrapped one of his arms  from my waist, grabbed my left hand he held it up, and kissed the new ring on my finger.

"Just another week," He his voice was soft, and made my stomach flutter. I looked back at my car and looked at my watch it was late,

"I really can't stay." I reluctantly said, but my feet wouldn't move, they stayed frozen to the snow covered ground. He laughed, and my eyebrows knitted together,

"What?" I asked and he pulled me close,

"But baby's its cold outside." He started to sing and I laughed with him.

"I've got to go away." I sang back,

"But baby's it cold outside,"

He stretched his arms out indicating the the cold,

"This evening has been, so very nice."

He took both my hands in his,

"I'll hold your hands, there just like ice."

He twirled me around, and we began to dance under the street lamp in the snow. Our voices being our only music,

"My mother would stop start to worry"

"So whats your hurry?"

I stopped not knowing the rest of the words,

"Uh..."

He laughed and kiss the tip of my nose,

"I really should go." I said this time walking away from him,

"Wait," He grabbed my scarf pulling me towards him, "Just one more kiss."

He closed the distance, his lips first softly grazing mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck. Warmth over coming both of us, the kiss was short but sweet.

"I love you" His lips whispered on mine.

I pulled away, and gave him a quick peck,

"Love you more."

I ran off then, to my car, before I open the door, I turned and waved at him.

He smile and waved back sadly. I got in the warm car and started my journey home.

I turned on the radio thinking about next week. I had the dress ready, and the invitation set out but yet there was so much to do. I looked down at my ring and my smile stretched out on my face. I'm getting married, to the boy I love, to my best friend. My mother still thought it was early, considering I graduated from High school in June.

I turned on the radio, and turned it up. 'Baby it's cold out side' Was playing and I missed him already.I It's only been a few minutes too. I turned a curb, the light of his house behind me, I sped up over the speed limit wanting to hurry and get home. The snow was clearing up and I could see the street better.

There was barely any cars out side, there was a diesel truck going way over the speed limit. I hope they get a ticket I thought to myself. I looked over at the driver when he got close enough, and my face filled with concern he looked so out of it. Before I could even blink the truck overlapped into my lane, causing a head on collision.

I don't remember screaming. The next thing I knew I was laying the on the cold road, the gravel bit into my skin. My body stung, it felt like it was on fire. I could feel something heavy on me, but I couldn't open my eyes. I tried moving but I couldn't. Voices. They were all around, I only saw his face. Memories fluttered by in my mind, memories of Jake and me. When we met to the day he asked me to marry him.

I saw myself in the wedding dress I just bought walking down the aisle my dad escorting me down, and Jake looking as beautiful as ever, waiting for me in his tux. I was getting tired, and a darkness was consuming me.

I was afraid at first, afraid of the darkness. I didn't want to go in it, I had so much to live for I didn't want to die, not now. Not when my life was just about to begin. A light shone in the middle of the darkness. It was bright and I couldn't help but walk to it. I turned back around, he was calling my name. I couldn't help but listen.

Jakes P.O.V

I saw the sirens come pass my small apartment building. Not long after she left. My gut twisted, and I pulled out my cell phone to call Lainee. She didn't answer and I panicked I ran to my car, and drove as fast as I could following the flashing lights. I prayed for the first time in my life, that I was just over re-acting and that she didn't heard her phone. It's not Lainee it cant be. I pulled to the side of the road, and weeped her car was mangled, I was numb and I struggled to open the car door.

Once I was out I ran, ran over to her. THe police officer tried stopping me,

"There's been a accident you can't cross." I looked over and saw her. Laying lifeless on the ground, blood pooled around her.

"Thats my fiancee! " I cried and he understood. He let me pass and I ran to her body, I kneeled down on the ground and cradled her face . I swiped her long blond hair away from her bloody face,

"Lainee," I whispered, tears falling down my cheek,

"Lainee, darlign wake up,"

She didn't move,

"Where's the medics!?" I screamed at the police officer, despite my rudeness he answered back kindly,

"There coming as fast as they can" His eyes was full of understanding.

"Lai, wake up sweetheart, don't leave me." I yelled at her my cold tears falling on her face,  her blue eyes slowly open.

She saw me and smiled, her left hand coming to my cheek.

"It's beautiful." She whispered looking at the ring.

"Yes it is," I took her hand from my cheek and kissed it, "Promise to stay with me Lainee,"

She frowned, "It hurts, Jake, get it off me it hurts."

"Nothings, on you sweetie"

"I do." She whispered so quietly I could barley hear her, my eyebrows knitted together in confusion,

"What?" Her eyelids began to droop,

"Lainee stay awake for me, promise me you'll stay awake." The tears coming again, she opened her eyes again, and weakly left her arm up, wiping away a tear falling down my cheek,

"Kiss it all better, Jake." I nodded and kissed her softly, she smiled.

"I love you." Lainee's voice said,

"No lainee, promise me that you'll stay awake, promise me." I demanded, she frowned but her eyes stayed close.

"You know I can't promise anything I can't keep."

I lift her head up to my chest, burying my face in her hair,

"Don't go, I love you."  Slowly her breathing stopped.

Lainee was gone.
