During Mid July
I float
Soaked in chlorine
I choke
On cherry ice
Filled with nice
During Mid July
I float
My crisp carmel melts into one
Bathing in Mother Nature's son
His name is serene, silky, and kind
He gives me light
But yet I'm blind
He touches my stomach, but never below
He kisses my cheeks
He makes water flow
He melts the cherry in my mouth
It spills down my chest
He seems proud
He smiles, but turns away, his brother is coming, until the next day
During Mid July
I float
I'm soaked in the mist
Of him
I'm on the brim of summer
His hot breath down my neck
So gently I glance at the birds
Shunning me as I burn
From the sky
His family cries
In an everlasting
Pool of drop drop drops
I feel one, two, three
My cherry is washed away
The water begins to ripple
And he is gone
During Mid July
I float
Soaked in tears
I choke
On my own
