Soaring Flames

Chapter 1

I walked into the courtyard, to see my favorite student Adella for her daily lessons.  When I wasn't studying, I was teaching, or cleaning to earn extra New Credits .
"Pyria!  Hurry up; I've created a new Gate Key! It's the Eon Gate Key, It's really, really cool!" Adella had seen me. Great.
I wonder if Adella really cares if she is technically being enslaved by Emperor Denholm.
"I-I'm coming!" I walked over to Adella, I saw a man wearing dark clothing, an agent of South Grids ruler, King Vandran shouting at Lucius Mockett, the Headmaster here at the college, I saw a glimpse of his face, before I was yanked out of my fantasy by Adella, tossing the Gate Key at me,"OW! You should have warned me! It just hit me in the face!" I told Adella sternly, "Not cool!"
"I did warn you! You were looking at that man, weren't you?" She asked me.
"Wha-What? How did you know?" I stammered.
"It was so obvious, shifting your weight onto one leg, pupils dilated, oh; I don't know flipping your hair? Are you kidding me?" Adella said angrily.
"Oh, sorry I have to go now," I ran away from Adella.
"But, I didn't do anything," She chimed.
"I have to go, now please go away," I said.
  "I can help protect the college! I can clean for all I care! Give me a room!" The man yelled at Lucius.
"No! For the last time we only let mages live here, leave now! We do not accept your kind lightly here! Mages only!" Lucius Mockett spit back harshly.
"Master Lucius! Please, may I talk to this man without you judging him so harshly?" I jumped in for my mortal enemy.
"Alright 10 minutes! No more! Make him leave, would you?" Lucius whispered into my ear, he was fuming with anger.
"What is your name? It's a good question to start off with, I suppose,"            I asked the man.
"I don't have a name, we all got our minds wiped when we small children,what's yours?" He asked in a monotone voice.
"Pyria, Pyria Fielding , nice to meet you!" I said nicely, "Look if you want to stay here, follow me, if not the exit is right there," I pointed to the arched entryway leading to the college,"Now then, let's go!"
We ran to my room, it was small, but it had two twin beds, a dresser and an armoire.
"Are you ok?" we asked each other in sighing unison.
"OPEN THE DOOR! Pyria do not play this game with me! Where is he, rhetorical question I know, he is with you isn't he?" Lucius yelled through the door.
"What the hell are you talking about? He's not here, and if he was, I wouldn't hide him here!" I retorted.

"Don't lie to me Pyria, I know he's in there just get him to leave!" Lucius  said.
"He will stay with me! You aren't going to intervene with what I tell you!" I sneered, mind control, a minor talent of mine.
"He can stay with you until further notice, as long as he does not cause any mischief." He murmured. I heard his footsteps as he walked out of the living quarters.
"We're in the clear!" I say quietly, "Go ahead and unpack your things, there are a couple empty dressers and an armoire for your things, when you are done we could walk to the hotel, I could show you around, of course, if you, want to, I sing too."
"My nickname is Fives if you care,"
"Ok, but you need a real name! How about Enoch? I read it in a book, he's really cool!"
"Sounds good!"
Enoch unpacked and I helped unload his rugged backpack and fold his clothes. He changed into a flannel shirt and jeans.
"Ready when you are!" Enoch said, "Wow that makes you even prettier- I mean cooler, oh fuck me! I probably just ruined anything that we had between us or anything that could have happened in the future-"
"Shhh, I feel the same way, so let's not jump into anything, here! Follow me!"
I felt weird being around him. But I also felt safe, safe was a feeling I haven't felt in forever, well at least since Emperor Denholm took over The Grid.
When we got to the hotel we walked straight down to the bar/nightclub, sat down at the bar, waved over the bartender, she was wearing a skimpy maid outfit, I didn't even care about that, I just wanted the shots.
"4 shots each," I said to the girl.
"Comin' right up, doll," She said back.
I think we had about 26 shots of hard liquor before we went to the dance floor, we dance until maybe 6am, then we left and went back to my room, where Enoch started to take off my shirt and skirt.
I pulled off his shirt and pants until we were staring at each other's nude bodies, I pushed him onto my bed and we had the best sex of our lives.
We woke up holding each other, in my bathtub, I have no goddamn clue how we got there but we did. I shook Enoch awake and got a shower, and of course Enoch hopped in with me and we just held one and other.
After our shower, I pointed to his bed and maybe a little too loudly I yelled, "Sit down, NOW!"
"Okay, Okay, someone's angry!" Enoch  said under his breath, yes, I heard him.
"Now, if you don't mind we have something to talk about," A piece of my hair flew onto my face, and in an attempt to blow it out of my face I tried to swoon Enoch , "Look if you really want to fake this couple thing, we might as well call it official! Kissing, hugging, and cuddling, anything and you will not be rooming with me, or anyone else for that matter! Care to oblige?"
"Fine! Tomorrow it begins!" He sighed back.
"It has already started! Last night doesn't count we were drunk as hell." I said.
"Ok, will you come with me to lunch?"     Enoch walked behind me, trying to grab my hand as I walked down the steps, I slowed down for him, so we could walk together.
When we got to the diner, I sat down with Enoch and got a hamburger. I ran to the bathroom and puked my guts out.
"Are you ok?" Enoch asked.
"Yea,I'm fine please keep eating. We need to get some stuff from the Super Mart down the road. After we're done eating we can pick up some shit."
"Okay, what do we need?" He asked back.
"Doesn't matter, we have to go."
We finished eating and walked to Super Mart, we got a bunch of food and medicine, and some shampoo and conditioner and body wash for Enoch. We got home and I started to put stuff away when Lucius came running up and started yelling, "GET TO YOUR DESIGNATED BOMB SHELTERS! BOMBS WILL BE DROPPED IN 5 MINUTES!"
There was panic in the rooms I grabbed  Enoch's backpack and threw our clothes in it along with my gun and Gate Keys.
I grabbed Enoch's hand and ran down to Bomb Shelter 9, the biggest one. We took a head count, the 20 people that were supposed to be there, and Enoch. I shut and locked the bunker door, and looked at my watch, just in time for the bombs to be dropped, we heard the loud thuds as the bombs fell to the ground, this was a regular occurrence for us in The South Grid, the poorest zone of the 8 zones, yet we have the best Mage college.
I thought about how my parents went away, they were non-mages but I was a mage, they were murdered right in front of me, I was only 8, I had tried to run out of our shack home, but the soldiers snatched me, and took me up to Emperor Denholm, for 8 years, then whenever they wanted they would abuse, rape, and whatever else they wanted to do to me, then they dropped me off at the college 2 years after, when I started to summon demons in my cell that would kill all of the people who went to do anything to me, then fucking deserved it. I almost ended the Hell-War.
When Enoch had come to the college, he was trying to escape, I could sense it. He was one of the guards who would rape me, but anytime the soldiers want, they can wipe their minds, and only remember what the want to. He was forced to do it though, someone made him rape me. I can't forget that.

We got the all clear to come out of the shelters, when we came out I saw soldiers around our bunker, two came up and tried to grab my arms, but I was able to summon a demon lord to kill them, it burned all the soldiers, and obviously killed them.
Emperor Denholm, walked up to me and Enoch. He took his laser pistol and shot Enoch in the shoulder, he fell down and I immediately kneeled down and helped him up, gave him my gun, and he shot.
