Ugh. All these dresses look like someone threw up on them. I mean come on, who puts orange, brown, and green in the same fabric. That's some Grade A embarrassment ready to come out. I usually don't get into this stuff, actually, I've never gotten into the whole dress-up thing. The whole dance, dress-up, and date thing is just kind of super lame. The only reason I'm going is because both my dad and my best friend Naomi think I should go. Get a break from reality and just have some "me" time. Anyway, back to the dresses. The only ones that look remotely cute just don't fit me. I could wear the baby blue dress, but it kind of makes me look like a mermaid with the skin tight top and the bottom poofed out way too far making me look like a mermaid with a "swollen tail". That's a for sure no to the blue dress. There is the red Cinderella dress with an adorable halter top that fits me well, but makes me look like an oversized tomato. The most adorable styled dress is just adorable, it is a smaller neon orange Cinderella dress with a pure rhinestone sash. I thought about it, then realized I looked like a jumbo traffic cone. Gosh, why is dress shopping so hard?
"Hey Allie," Naomi said, "what about this one?" She held up this adorable cream colored dress. It was a lace dress one strap dress that was down to the floor and had a slit up the side. I never in my life thought I would be so in love with dress before. But this dress just took my breath away.
"Wow!" I said, "That is definitely the dress!" Naomi smiled.
"You know," Naomi started, "I really think this is good for you. You haven't been out in a while. It's about time you got out and explored what is all out there in Beverly Hills, besides the coffee shop and school. And who knows, maybe you'll find yourself a man." Naomi smirked as she said that. Typical her. Naomi is that one friend everyone has that is always trying to hook people up. Some days I want to strangle her, but she is still my best friend and I love her none the less.
"Always thinking of others Naomi." I laughed. "But I'm not going out to find me a boyfriend. I'm only going out to prove to both you and my dad that I am indeed not a plant that just sits around and doesn't ever do anything, and I actually do get out of the house." Naomi laughed at that comment. "Besides, it is good that I do something for myself. But enough about me, let's get out of here. If I see another make-you-want-to-throw-up-dress, I just might throw up myself."
"You're right, let's get out of here." Naomi said. We paid for the dresses and walked out of the store. As we were walking down the street I really started thinking that this was good for me. I do need to get out more often. I mean besides school all I ever do is go down the coffee shop and read or study. Maybe this dance won't be such a bad thing after all.
