I crouched in the corner of the room observing my surroundings. The room was mostly empty with a lack of good hiding spots apart from a small wooden table and chair in the corner. The marble floor was covered in dust and there were cobwebs on the ceiling which made me hope that this room was rarely used. There was no lighting as the occupants of this place didn't need it which gave me a slight disadvantage as I could hardly see my hand in front of my face.

I heard the soft thud of footsteps heading my way and I retreated even further into the shadows as if I could disappear into them. I waited with a baited breath as the footsteps came closer and I prayed that they would just pass by. Unfortunately, I had no such luck. The heavy footsteps stopped just outside the door and I stopped breathing hoping that my presence would remain unnoticed.

A radio squawked from the hallway "Have you found the girl yet,"

The guard replied in a low voice, "Not yet. We fear she may have escape the compound."

I almost snorted at that one. As if I would be able to get out of the tight security of this place in less than an hour. I swear they had more confidence in me then I had. Still they had radios which represented a bigger problem. I had to get out of here and if the guard caught sight of me he could radio in for backup, which would make escaping about ten times harder.

I had hoped he would continue walking past this room but as his footsteps got louder I slipped behind the door not that it would do much good. I would bet that they would be able to smell me as soon as they came within ten meters. The door burst open and a guard entered the room cautiously. He looked around the room quickly, only a brief sweep of his surroundings before turning towards the door. Sloppy really. I would have thought the Vampires would have trained their guards better. Honestly I could probably best him and my kind had the physical disadvantage but it did give me the element of surprise.

With his back turned it was almost easy. I stepped behind the door just as his nostrils flared and he turned. His face met my fist and he crumpled to the ground with a moan. I hated to attack an opponent who was on the ground but I had no choice if I wanted to survive this. My boot crunched on his face and I looked down at the mess of blood on his face. He wouldn't be getting up in a while which gave me the perfect head start.

But I forgot about the radio. It crackled again "Tom, are you there? Have you seen the little girl? What have you found. Over."

I figured that when Tom didn't answer they would guess what had happened and lock into the radios position so I picked it up. Honestly the few seconds it would take to figure out where I was wouldn't make a difference.

I picked up the radio and pressed the button, "Hello are you receiving me, this is the little girl. Honestly you bloodsuckers should train your guards better. Also this place has horrible decor and you may want to look into that. Au revoir. Over."

I dropped the radio and crushed it under my foot. When I lifted my heel all that was left was black powder. Then I slammed the door shut and took off down the hallway.

My name is Leto Monroe and I am over six hundred years old.

First things first. I am not a vampire. I hate being compared to those idiots.

No, my kind- the Sempiterno- are immortal. We are the better generation of mankind- the humans 2.0 I suppose. No one is quite sure who the first Sempiterno was or how they came to be but the theory is that the cause of our existence was a result of a genetic mutation which created a new better race of humans. Our race gradually evolved and gave us the immortality and enhanced senses of the Sempiterno today.

I am not quite sure how it works because I wasn't born Sempiterno like the others, but I think the main requirement to be born a Sempiterno are that you have to have parents that are smarter and sportier then the average human.

I bet a lot of you are thinking it would be cool to live forever and not get sick or older or die but let me assure you that it's not that amazing. If you still have relatives or friends you have to watch them grow old and die or you avoid people and therefore the heartbreak and end up with a lonely eternal existence.

The Sempiterno live forever provided we aren't wounded in one of our vital organs and we don't get sick or grow old. I will admit that Sempiterno are similar to vampires in the way that we are both highly evolved species. Both the vamps and us have heightened senses and we are faster and stronger than humans. However, vampires need blood to survive, can't go out in the sunlight and are a lot easier to kill.

As well as Sempiterno there are six other main group of supernatural creatures. Most live in a land between Canada and America called Lledrith in one of the seven kingdoms

The first Kingdom is Yossather or the Ethereal Valley where the fae and the more otherworldly creatures live. The fae are powerful cunning creatures and their land is mostly avoided by those with common sense.

Then there is Ayotion (Pronounced eye-oh-shen), the Elder region. Ayotion is the main city for supernatural beings and is welcome to all of magical being.

The third Kingdom is Theacia (pronounced Thee-see-a) otherwise known as Paradise. In Theacia lives the elves and dragons as well as majority of the mythical creatures that you might hear about such as griffins and sphinxes.

The fourth Kingdom is perhaps the evilest. Shecathe (pronounced Shee- kay- th) is occupied by the dark creatures of the magical world. Vampires, necromancers, evil spirits and all kinds of malevolent things live there.

The fifth Kingdom, Eacceroth (Ee-ker-reth) is the land of witches, elementals, mages and sorcerers as well as magic wielders.

The sixth Kingdom, known as Tyolian (Ty-oh-lee-en) or the lunar forest, is a vast woodland home to shapeshifters and werewolves.

The seventh and last Kingdom, Merasae (Mee-ra-say), is made of about 80% water. The landscape is dominated by a massive ocean that is sparsely dotted with islands that have freshwater lakes and rivers. All the supernatural creatures that can't live on land live there.

There is one ruling court for all of the magical creatures. It's entirely made up of Sempiternos and is governed by the strongest Sempiterno alive. They judge all the disputes between those with magic as well as prevent the human world from finding out about magic.

The members of the court are called Elders and every so often they come around looking for any strong Sempiterno to add to their ranks. I try and stay out of their way whenever they are recruiting for if I was discovered it would lead undoubtedly to my death.

On that happy note let's talk about the most dreaded thing in any sane human's life. School.
